That's what I thougt .. big difference .... that's why I posted it :D.
I think i didn't make a mistake .... DHS hurricane 8 with Cloud and Fog 3 = 183 gram I can't check anymore as I moved the rubbers around. but the other 2 are correct 100% (just weight them again).

Today I played a few matches against different players.
it's getting better ..... but still to many mistakes .....
I think the Viper is very hard to control where you place the ball ........

Pffft. My friend just sent me a picture off the LP that he has.
It's a black Tibhar Grass D.Tecs .......
Not sure if I want that one or would rather have the grass ultra as it's a bit slower and better control.
But we'll see how it goes. If I have it before the pipweekend I can see what fits me best.

Ok. Today I had a little tournament. About 7 players in my class where in a 7camp.
So we had to play 6 matches. I did this to play more in matchplay to test the LP.

I was a bit surprised it went pretty good. I keep having problems with long balls ... or I have to hit it quick, or I have to chop which i'm not good at yet.
One opponent had a SP rubber and one had anti. The anti was easy ..... the Short pip a bit harder but I also won.
After 5 matches I won all !!!!!!. Most I needed 5 sets and all after I was 0-2 down .... I had to learn how to hit the balls and it was different for every oponent.
The last match I lost ... (also in 5) but this was because I was getting insecure because the BH TopSpin balls went over the table ..... the lady play with almost no spin ........
So I starting hitting more save shots, but those she could return fast .. we had some amazing rally's .... but I lost in 12-10 in the last game. No shame as I was here to learn.

But at the end off the day I got the throphy for First Place !!! :D.
My first LP tournament throphy .....

Somehow I still have the feeling the Viper is to slow.
I think I will give the D.Tecs a shot .....

If I look at the frame it is on it's a little bit slower than my donic frame.
but it would help with the faster D.Tecs LP and the faster Hurricane 8 (coming from Skyline 2, non neo).

It also has a lot control. According to the revsping testpage it's in 14th spot off control. Althoug only 5 testusers.

We have to give it a try ....

Yesterday I was training with my teammate ....
He was spinning to my FH and I wanted to chop/block ......
It was hard to control. The he did the same to my BH and i switched LP to BH.
It was much easier to control the chopblocks and it went much better ......
Maybe I must forget about LP on the FH and use it on BH and maybe switch more ...
Or learn a service where you can predict where the serve is gonna end up .....

well ... friday next cupmatch .... i'll start using it on the BH and see how it goes.

Yesterday I had cupmatches again .. o boy what did I had a bad evening.
We played against very low rated players. It a best of 3 to 21 points game ....
I had to give points from 9 to 13 points ....... but the worst part is that these players are very low ranked so they don't attack.
I always have difficulties with those players because i'm not good in starting the speed.
So i won 2 and lost 2 ..... But ok .... I think this was it ... Don't think we will qualify for knockout rounds.

I'm getting used to the Viper rubber .. it's great close to table but I have difficulites with the balls far from table.
Funny .. with cloud and fog it was the way around.

Funny. Same frame ...

DHS hurricane 8 with Cloud and Fog 3 = 183 gram.
DHS Skyline 2 with DHS Cloud and Fog 3 = 175 gram

DHS Hurricane 8 with Viper 0.6 = 155 gram. Viper is way lighter then the C$F.

BTW ... AFter switching the inverted rubbers the feel was the same .... If I would bet it looks like the new skyline 2 rubber is slower than the older versions (it had a new packing).

This morning I glued a new DHS Hurricane 8 to the new frame with the D.Tecs ......
DHS Hurricane 8 with Andro Ligan ALL+ and 0.5 Tibhar Grass D.Tecs = 143 gram. It feels very light.
Tuesday training and check it out.

It's my blog so I can also type off-topic things here :D.

I bought new shoes, new shorts, glue and a 3th batcase.

I can't wait till 2morrow to test out the new frame and Grass D.Tecs ....
Looking at the numbers the frame has very high control.

Yesterday was training with the new frame with d.tecs 0.6 rubber.

First the frame .... it's light ..... it had better feeling, but it feels ... euh ... how do I call this ... fragile?
It had good feeling with returning the ball with the normal rubber.

The pips .... it felt speedy, bouncy from rubber ... but it wasn't. Well it's faster then the viper, but not as uncontrolled fast as the Cloud and Fog (but this one has 1mm sponge).
sidewipe got a bit high but i'll get used to that. Blockchop was great .. a bit fast return but on the table and low.
When 1.5 meter behind the table I could do some kind off chop but not a 'long' chop ..... just a short blockshop but a little more motion.
There has been NO ball coming back over the net. Not during a second spin, or even during a push. Everthing went in the net.

I think this will be the one to play with. Not 100% sure about the frame yet but we'll see.
Can't wait for the LP training weekend next weekend.

Garfield great blog, sounds similar to my long pip journey but with you having more opportunity to play in many team events and league play.

I've been able to travel to various clubs in the Midwest (Dan Seemiller Sr. has kicked my ass) and now in California. Just played my 87th usatt tournament as an adult and came out 1751. So playing pretty well.

Where you have multifaceted backhand, I'm like that on the forehand, being to loop, hit, chop or block with good control and placement, so I have long pips mainly on the backhand (I twiddle my paddle mostly during service return, sometimes playing an experiment point [surfaces on opposite sides] here or there to make my opponent think that I can have either surface on either side whenever I want, I can't lol).

I, also, used to have problems with lower rated players, until I really started having fun the performing multiple shots with the long pips.

It is my belief that if you bend the long pips several different ways with different strokes the spin reversal changes; against weaker players use your pips to bump, push, slow open faced punch block, a slow roll and swipe block. If you practice these different strokes you can do some faster with others and your opponents will have nightmares.

I've played with over 100 different long pips, you may want to try out Yinhe's Neptune .7mm good spin reversal, easy to attack with and pretty slow, also under $6.

I played with Neubauer's Aggressor and KO and although those rubbers are faster than long pips they may suit your FH attacking pips side.

Sorry to ramble in your blog. Training for my next tournament just switched to Spinlord Sandwind as my "inverted" rubber, so far with 4 hours of training I can flat hit through any spin at any height, have my fingers crossed that it wasn't a fluke.

Best of luck in your journey.

Thx @flipper4pipper
My problem was I haven't had any technic lessons just from movies and feel.

Last weekend I had a 2 day long pip training and learned a lot.
As it's a lot to write I'll do it later today. But I have learned many new strokes that could help me in all ways :D
I now know the technics, I trained a bit ... and it's time to train more more more to get the feel off the strokes, but also how to react on different kind of spins (a bit, a lot, awesome much).

Long Pip Trainings weekend.
From Sebastian Sauer (Sauer & Troger)

We first started with some basic technics for short balls with no spin.
He explained you do not have to do/learn ALL strokes. Pick the ones you play (or in my case what I think I wanna play :D). So I practised the sideswide and the more agresive placed ball (movement foreward). Also some chopblocks above the table to keep the short en to the sides. In all cases hit the ball as early as possible. with the side swide start moving sideways before you hit the ball, not when you hit the ball and then swipe because you need the pimples to do their work.
We had some excersises with different opponents.

Then we learned a topspin with the LP. Not to use it often, but for the surprise. When ball comes with backspin these are much easier.

Then we learned the blockchop when topsin balls come. O man I love this one. I got 45 min. private session with the second trainer that was with him ... and he kept spinning on my LP and I could return many with chopblock. Awesome stroke ... this one is favorite for me.

During the day we learned many strokes and variations. But again .. practise the strokes you want to use. It's beter to play 2/3 strokes very good, then 7 just a bit because you make to many mistakes. What I found important is the movements are short. No long strokes as you will hit the balls on different spots so the ball behaves different.

What's important in any tt game ... change speeds en spins with your strokes.
If you have a perfect topspin, but you do it 100% the same every time people will adjust. So you must change it .....

Second day was more off tactic/match situations.

I really learned a lot this weekend. Now I have 3 months to practise ........
But .... for now I am having a lot off fun and have more pleasure in playing tt again.

In july I have 2 summer tournaments and in august 3 off them. They are individual tournaments, but you get points in everyone off them. After the 5 the points are totalled and there will be a best top 3 and get a special price.
In august also the tournaments start for age 40+ :D. Every other sunday (so sunday tournament, next sunday not, sunday tournament etc).
Tuesday will be the trainingday where we meet at the club.

October will start competition again ...... then I must be ready for it.
I never played this many after the competiton that ended in May ... PD

I forgot about the long dead serves to the LP. This one still is the weakest spot for LP players. But play the balls quick from the bounce and try change placement. Maybe sometimes walk around and play with your FH, or twiddle (if you can) and play with your inverted on the BH.

BTW: I now use the Andro Ligna ALL+ with Hurricane 8 and Grass D.Tecs. Also tried 0x in the weekend but that does not fit my playing style.
The viper is ok .. but I have just a little better feeling with the d.tecs. But I won't sell it :D ... maybe after the summer I can try and play a few games with it and see how it feels then.
