Based purely on a reading of the subject ...

Fast spinny serves never went away. :)

I love that guy... but I got bogged down in this video...
I really cannot allocate that much time to sift useful things out of all this fooling around crap.

I find this board so so useful and the crowd here is just awesome.
Thanks!

I think I am moving in the right direction.
Did some hitting and developing some confidence with LPs.
Found for example that I can top spin with LPs on my BH.
It's not heavy of course but it's got nice loop and going in.
Doing more with it away from the table as well, even tried flat slap attack.
that is a monster when goes in but very narrow margin of success rate, the conditions must be right.
otherwise it's mostly chop or/and side swipe... get it over the net... often something weird that folks got confused
Also the boys stopped spinning their serves to me, which is ok, I just step left and attack with FH
Life is rosy today...:)
Cheers

In general, very fast long serves are a mix of side and/or topspin, nearly impossible to have a very fast underspin serve. Also, most of the opponent's effort is put into making it fast, so spin will be moderate at best.

I would have to say this is not true. C-pen players traditionally have a surprise fast heavy under-spin serve to the BH ... that they mix up with side-spin and top-spin ... and also high-toss ... so you either get the fast version ... or a sudden short version ... every one of those serves get loaded with heavy spin ...

I have directly faced a "casual" Chinese C-pen player who does this. Unless you are Timo Boll or something you aren't going to loop his fast heavy underspin serve ... unless you know RPB like me :-D

Anecdotally, I tried a lot of things like push to FH, ball floats long down the line .... push to BH, ball goes slightly high ( fellow is there already pivoting to smash down the line to my FH side ) .... . neutral block , ball dumps right into the net ..... if i tried side-push to any direction, ball reacts with a kick and flies off doesn't even stay on the rubber ... my only option was to try looping ... RPB very close inside the stomach... opponent has to play counter-loop and can't really do any kill or smash ... I get enough time to react and reach the return ball ...

Looping fast underspin serve requires a good amount of "jerk" while killing the ball speed to keep it on the table. Not easy to return if they do a no-toss serve or hidden body serve ... side-spin / top-spin / under-spin / no-spin the variants cause havoc.
