Post subject:  Hammering the ball into the table during a serve

So far I've only seen people hammering the ball into the table on their side during a long fast serve. However, I've recently met a player who serves short and semi-long underspin serve by cutting underneath the ball, but at the same time hammering it close to the edge of the table on his side. My intuition is that there should be less backspin on the ball if it's served like that, but in reality it appears that there's just as much (if not more) backspin as I would otherwise expect. Does anyone have any sort of explanation of what such technique does to the spin (if anything at all)?

I'm having trouble imagining what you mean. Any videos?

Hi buddy, that depends on the type of pitch too, so cross check if it does happens in other pitches type too.
