My j-pen has no cork on the back side. So I bought a cork sheet for saxophone or flute... 15 x 10 cm on aliexpress. I would like to know if it is the same as the cork of the j-pen racket, because it feels different to the touch, a little bit smoother and harder. And how do I glue it, do I use the wood glue? Thank you very much! |

That's 6 inches by 4 inches - seems a little small. You won't be able to cover the entire back side of the blade but that's usually not what's done anyway. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002280910874.html Seems to be 2mm thick (which seems a little too thick). It's monolithic cork, not granular (like the stuff you get from Daiso), which is what you want, actually. Another source of cork would be an auto-parts store (they use it for making gaskets). What to use to glue it on? Perhaps wood glue (Titebond, etc.)? Probably a thin layer on the cork, then clamp in place. Iskandar |

Thanks! I already bought this: https://es.aliexpress.com/item/10050016 ... 63c0nx2Qx7 and i don't need to cover all of it, but only a part of it. I'm thinking of mixing the wood glue with water to make it lighter. |

Ah.. I'd get something on the thin side (1 or 1.2mm). You could also apply the wood glue to both surfaces, allow to dry and then use a hot iron to apply the cork. This would work with the thinner sheets. If larger sheets were available this might be an interesting material to use for blade-making, as the center ply (like the old 729 Bomb). Come to think of it.. a glue sheet might work. One of the stronger Chinese ones rather than the expensive European ones that are meant to allow easy rubber removal. Iskandar |
