Hi folks

It occurs to me that I've seen quite a few videos of anti/frictionless anti players, but I've never really played against one myself.

I always just presumed that anti plays like LPs... but I doubt it's that straightforward.

How does anti play? What's different between anti rubbers with friction and "Flanti"? Is there a way to tell the difference by looking/feeling the rubber, rather than having to look up its properties on the internet?

What would be the difference for me playing against these players?

I'll probably buy one to have a play around with at some point, but until then, hopefully you guys can help :)

Thanks!

Hi Dunc,

more or less, anti rubbers with friction ''play'' like long pimpled rubbers with friction. Some spin manipulation ability with is still there.

Frictionless antis are just surfaces which helps spin to continue without having any chance of spin manipulation. Spin continuation is independent from the form you draw in space when you hit the ball with a frictionless anti. This and your conditionings which comes mostly to play against inverted rubber creates the deception.

You can imagine a glazed tile surface as a frictionless anti surface. Anti rubbers with friction have a lusterless, matte surface and they still have a kind of minimum friction , you can still give a little bit spin to the ball with. With frictionless antis that is not possible.

Thanks deva, useful information.

So if I play a light topspin serve to a Flanti rubber, it'll come back as light backspin, regardless of what stroke my opponent plays?

One of the matching comments from 4 people when facing me Fanti vs LPs. The Fanti was more linear with the returns.

You will know the difference btw just by rubbing the ball over the surface, literally like silky smooth wooden floor the Fanti.

- Yes and it comes back as even lighter backspin, regardless of what stroke my opponent plays. A lil' bit lighter backspin because the ball is moving in space-time and the spin is dwindling down..
