In the middle of the article it says

"At one tournament she had the rubber ripped off her bat, just before she was about to play, to prevent her playing in the final, that was very disturbing," Schick said

Does anyone down under (or elsewhere) have more information on this ?

Edit: As someone more observant than me pointed out (keme), that's probably just an illustration of a bat, not the actual bat of the player in question.

It's terrible to hear about a young athlete facing such bullying and harassment, especially during a tournament. This is an awful thing to do, to a young athlete especially. Glad some justice seems was been served. And I do hope she won that final!
For 30 years I've heard all sorts of epithets (slipper, galosh, outsole.. ) and threats towards my anti, most of them as a joke though some were quite peppery from sore losers.. but never an actual physical action.
