Hi everyone, my neighbour has found this Stiga Bernhardt bat in her loft and was wondering whether it's worth much. I have tried searching for it on the internet but have not found this specific one. I would be so grateful for any information anyone might have.

If you're thinking "is it worth much" in terms of some collector paying money for it, I doubt it. These rackets were made in the thousands, and this one doesn't appear to be a classic. Still, I'd keep it as it is, maybe there IS someone who'd pay money for it. If you're wondering whether this would be useful for use as a playing bat, it would need new rubber (rubber has a limited life). This was what bats looked like in the late 70s/early 80s - thick layer of varnish, picture of eponymous player on handle. Not sure who "Bernhardt" was - they're still selling "named" bats like this, if they come with the rubber attached it'd be a "rec grade" bat that they sell at the department store. The more expensive ones come bare, you have to put the rubber on it yourself, and that's the sort of bat people on this forum will use. Judging from the rubber on the bat, it's a department store bat - I think "backside" meant smooth rubber. An expensive bat would have had a rubber called "Mark V" on it.
