We had a 13-year-old in the final of the U.S. Nationals. Her name is Ariel Hsing.

Don't you just love camera angles? That table looks like a ball would just slide right off it!

My daughter is still a ways off 3 and she loves holding a TT bat and swiping at the ball. Her brothers have a 8-in-1 mini table and she was getting me to hit a ball to her on it today. Except she plays it like cricket, so instead of trying to hit it back to me, she goes for the hook shot!

Somehow I doubt if she will get serious enough to become good at a young age though. Too many other things she likes to do and she spends much more time with Mum than Dad to get the time and encouragement needed. Oh well!

Wow, thought she would get slaughtered, but made a good comeback. I watched until 13-all, did she win? How old is she now?

before i watch the vid, please tell me Ariel Hsing doesn't do that annoying "TA!" before and after every point? it made some of her videos impossible to watch for me...

-edit- okay she only does it when she wins a point now, i'm quite okay with that.

I should have Tat, but you're the one always telling me to go to bed in the wee hours of the morning, so I took your advice lol. Besides I was trying to save some DL allowance lol.

Forget the serve... she went through Ding Ning, Chen Meng and Zhu Yuling to win the Asian Championships. No wonder this old thread's been resurrected..

You have seen this thread, right? Started a few days ago..

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=31231

I must admit.. in 2009 she must've been 8 years old. Don't know what prompted Haggis to make that first post. Must've been one heck of an 8 year old to have merited her own thread.. No videos of her playing from back then, though, and all the 2009 photo links are broken. There's actually three Japanese teenage girls in this current crop, who are all 16-17 years old. Hirano-san, Ito Mima and Hayata Hina (ranked 21). They have similar games (though Ito-san uses pips). There are also a few 20-or-so year olds in the top 25, too - Sato Hitomi, Hashimoto Honoka and Hamamoto Yui.
