I have an iPong V300 robot at home that I think works great (especially for the price I paid). It jams perhaps once every hour of play but it only takes a few seconds to fix so it is not a big deal at all. But if I were to upgrade to a Butterfly Amicus Start robot, what would I gain by doing that? The circulating feature on the Amicus is nice but is it more accurate in its shots? Less problems? Better spin balls? What makes it cost so much more?

It has 3 spin wheels, programming options and all of the adjustments.
It's probably over priced, but the 3 wheels lets you recreate a ball you are having trouble with. 3 wheels means you can create dead balls, light but still fast top spin balls.
I have the advance (middle) edition myself and I'm pretty happy with it.
Like you I had a cheaper robot until I was frustrated with the spin and speed of the ball tied to each other.

On a regular basis I go home and work on a sequence or single ball type I'm having trouble with.

Mine never gets jammed unless my kid puts a toy in there.

That makes sense. Yes, the third wheel would be nice to have. I was just confused to the big difference in price. Thanks!

Update: I did some more reading about this and got myself a new robot; a PowerPong 3001. Thanks for your input!

Too early to tell (did not receive it yet... ) but I will surely report back once I have had it for a while. :)

I figure I can try and answer my own question. After posting this thread I read up more on the robots and I decided to upgrade. I got myself a PowerPong 3001 robot a few weeks ago. This particular model is very similar to the Butterfly Amicus Professional robot. All I can say, there is no comparison between the PowerPong 3001 robot and my iPong V300 robot. The PowerPong 3001 is solid and most of the pieces are metal (including the tube) whereas the V300 was all plastic. But the price difference is huge so it is a big decision. However, having the ability to accurately program a sequence makes a lot of sense. And it is fun! I love it!
