True Japsican...I wish I had a video of some of my best chicken-wing shots. I've never seen PB play them the way I can (or Marcin for that matter)

The post should really be titled how to play table tennis with minimal mobility - its a very different skill from playing table tennis with minimal footwork which is what Rev was pointing out later (and his experience mirrors mine) on the need for lots of smaller movements - I move over shorter distances but I do it more often because of the value of the first four shots of the point. What I will add is that shot quality matters - if you can't hit the ball hard or wide enough to put the opponent under pressure to return the ball towards you, then they will move you.

It's basically raising your elbow to hit aggressive BHs or dropping it to hit FH blocks from the middle.

You've all forgotten one important change. The cobra strike. That one ball you wait for in you sweet spot that one can snap away, shocks you're opponent and keeps them guessing.

Never cross over your legs.

If the ball is played wide to your forehand - your right legs lunges for it,your left leg stays put.

On a ball played wide to your backhand - your left leg lunges for it and your right leg stays glued to the floor.

Super tight quality serves and aggressive returns set you up for reduced movement in the rest of the point.

Wide stance, feet slightly splayed outward, weight on the balls of your feet keeping body vertically stacked enables you to keep balanced and your center of gravity between your knees/ feet. You need decent leg and core strength to play this way.

Take some lessons from Youtube how the immobilIZed used to play the game. No footwork at all.
