Though not caused by TT, it looks like I'll be in a wheelchair soon due to a chronic illness. I feel well-enough to otherwise try playing again and wondering if anyone else has any advice. I've switched to SPs and going to try a Seemiller grip and see how that goes.

Also sorry to hear that :(
But compared to other sports TT is great in this aspect. If you look at Avva-Carin you see she is holding tha bat with the head pointing up. That I think helps fast switching between BH and FH. Now, her illness (ALS I think) forces her to attach the blade to her hand with some tape. That stops her from twiddeling (I don't know if she ever did that). Otherwise that would be something to work on I think. This meaning I am not sure Semiller is the best solution (unless you can twiddle with that grip?)...

I forgot to get back on this topic. I never got to play against Anna-Carin at that competition, but I watched a few of her matches. I noticed she ws weak at the cross over point (of course) and she seems to have more power in her BH than in her FH, perhaps that is why she uses LP on FH and fast SP on BH. Since she uses pips on both sides she cannot generate lots of spin, and that is not all beneficial for her game, but perhaps neccesary for the style she playes. If anyone wants to get in contact with her you can send her a message through Facebook, she seems to be very active there.

Back when I was active there was a player in Florida who played in a wheelchair and if I recall correctly he was rated something like 2150 or 2200. From photos in the USTTA newsletter he was a looper. Never saw him play (way too far to travel!) but I was told by someone who did that he looked like he was going to fall out of his chair when he played. Can't remember the name, though.
