I have argued and still firmly believe that LP rubbers will not go below the threshold friction level with normal play for the overwhelming majority of us. If you have had the same sheet for 5 years then maybe, but I have TSP curl from at least 10 years and they are still very grippy. If you treat them, leave them in the sun or microwave then all bets are off.

+1. I've seen quite a lot of creative rule interpretation and interesting post-factum treatment justifications: "but I like playing TT in a tanning booth while being sprayed by glue mist. That's fair use and natural wear and tear!".

As I've pointed out several times in the past - worst comes to worst (say you live above the Arctic Circle and it's February), you can use a tanning bed to "treat" your long pips. You'd lay down in the bed and stick the bat pips side up on your tummy. Of course it means you won't be able to go shirtless in your club (or change your shirt, for that matter) for the next couple months, but that's a very small price to pay... (Mention of tanning beds reminds me of that second Kick-Ass movie..)

Iskandar may be right when he says Igor likes creating controversy . What is the point of friction tests when the amateur level mirrors what happens at the pro level? . At least in my area,the pips player reach the round of the last 16 / 8 at the most .In the pro tour what is the highest position of a lp player? You know the answer already!!

Yeah, posting to generate controversy is known as "trolling". And one who engages in it is known as a "troll". One wonders if Igor is really as anal-retentive about the rules as he claims to be, or if he posts this stuff just to get a rise out of us. He definitely loves to invent problems where none really exist, by misrepresenting things.

Our Chinese friends of Nangkin reputed trader will supply as many testing apparatus as the need may be.
The apparatus is amazingly easy to handle and maintain.
And the measuring accuracy proved to be within decimals.

I don't care much for rule speculations. But that tool should be used in all rubber reviews. My bet is 999 is still the grippiest rubber on the market.

I don't think the device is meant for inverted rubbers, especially not tacky ones. The device might even damage tacky rubbers, if it relies on a moving surface to rub against the rubber surface.
