Not sure how it works in the US but racket inspection is a very rare occurrence here in Sweden even at the elite levels other than at pro tour events and nationals.

That might be so, and it's probably very similar in AU and USA, but the great majority of players want to play with legal equipment on principle, because they feel like they're cheating, or open themselves up to complaints, if they don't use legal rubbers. So keeping the rubbers ITTF approved is very important to them.

Long pips players are particularly sensitive to using legal equipment since we're often called cheaters, junk players, etc. We get criticized on this very forum for even talking about illegal equipment.

Different countries. Different cultures. I very rarely get that kind attitude directed towards me.

... but I do get your point. I hope you find a replacement rubber.

I remember the great table tennis association of Sweden tried to get the ITTF to remove the unfair frictionless LP ban about a decade ago, so I can believe conditions are better for long pip players in your country. The ITTF is very open in their opinion that long pips are bad and that attitude seems to filter down in most places.

I used to use Butterfly Tackiness Chop before Reflectoid. Then Butterfly cracked down on international distributors and the US distributor refuses to carry Tackiness C in 1.1mm sponge. I have so much trouble. lol

I can get Tackiness C 1.1 from friends overseas, but it's expensive and a hassle. Dr. Neubauer Special Defence 1.0 is also really good, but it's super overpriced. Might try Marder 1mm and a few others next. Or maybe it's faster and cheaper to skip the aggravation of testing and get like ten sheets of Tackiness C or Special Defence and be done with it for a few years. Decisions, decisions.

Not so strange due to the fact that Mr. Åkerström performed a little bit too well with his frictionless pips in the youth world champs :D

Right! A hostile factory in China has molds we paid for and are selling the rubber, so paying 220$ so a hostile factory can sell my rubbers is not the most fantastic business model.

OH!!! I assumed whichever OEM factory was being used in China would have returned the molds to you! I guess it doesn't work like that. Dang. So they're actually selling Gambler-branded rubbers???? That's REALLY bad. I suppose this would mean they could also use those same molds, change the "headstamp" part and release their own version. I assume they'd have (or were making) the energy-absorbing sponge, too.

I guess the big problem I have with NotBob is his propensity to 1) believe the worst possible interpretation of a situation, and believe the worst of people, and 2) use terms like "backstabbing", "throw under the bus" and such. Most of the time it's directed at the ITTF (which I don't believe is an angelic entity, just an organization that does things in a more or less democratic way, that I sometimes agree with and sometimes don't, but which I don't believe is inherently "evil", definitely not the spawn of the devil), but this time it was directed at Gambler/Zeropong. I'm glad we now know what the actual situation was. Maybe he's just like that. No idea what he's like in real life, probably a great deal more pleasant. He's certainly no S-Jan.

Well, with that in mind can I by some of your remaining stock Tom? I don’t mind being illegal with an inverted rubber. Nobody cares...
