This is how science works. I first came across this puzzle/thought experiment many years ago, in Model Builder magazine. There was a columnist who got into physics and theory. Note Mark Drela makes an appearance here, he's famous among aeromodellers from doing wind tunnel experiments at low Reynolds numbers and coming up with airfoils for model gliders. That model prop car - I wonder if the design is on Thingiverse, I understand a lot of the parts are 3D-printed. I'd like to build one.

This got me thinking. How does this stuff apply to flat earthers? They approach problems superficially. They look at partial evidence, or disregard it if it doesn't fit their ideas. They have a phobia for numbers. They work through a problem half-way, and then come to strange conclusions because they can't wrap their head around the problem. They disregard and have a disdain for those who can. They think everyone is part of a conspiracy so who cares about physics.. anyone with training is out to fool them.

Anyone can see that this is another proof that the earth is flat.

Right?

Building the model featured in the previous video.

There are very few women who are into engineering and making things, let alone posting about them on YouTube, which is a shame. Do check out her other videos. It's available on Thingiverse, so you can print the parts yourself. The rest of the parts you can get from McMaster Carr, if you're in the US.. elsewhere in the world you could could try Misumi, or scrounge on AliExpress.

I wish I'd seen this when it first came out. It'd been a while since I'd listened to Les Miserables, and was looking for some of the videos I'd watched 3-4 years ago, and.. well, it's really nicely done.

Particularly enjoyed the MAGA-Thenardiers...

This is what I was searching for.

(Seems like the Playlist tag isn't there any more... )

Incidentally, I came across this as well, just about blew me away. (In case you were wondering where the song in the previous post was based on.)

This probably got suggested by the Algorithm due to all the Olympics videos I've been watching.

Who knows how the Algorithm thinks. But this came up this evening, and it made me smile.

The channel's only a year old, quite a few videos already.

This is another video that suddenly popped up as recommended. Apparently this song was played at the recent Olympics closing ceremony in Tokyo, perhaps that's the reason. The song made it onto the pop charts in the US (in 1963, I think) - what I find highly amusing is that the title ("Ue o Muite Arukō" - "I look up as I walk") was too "difficult" for Americans, so the American agent renamed the song "Sukiyaki". Millions of Americans know it by that name. Someone in the press remarked at the time that this would be the equivalent of "Moon River" being renamed "Beef Stew" in Japan.

Thanks a lot, Iskandar!

I have seen the performance I don't know how many times, and never heard that title word sung. Listened for it, but I am barely able to discern and comprehend two words when spoken in Japanese (those two sounding roughly like "wakarimasen, hai", supposedly meaning "yes, I don't understand"), so I guessed that when sung, the sound of "sukiyaki" was just harder to distinguish.

I also never could make the gestures and facial expressions of the performance quite match a Japanese version of "Jambalaya".

It all makes sense to me now. Thanks again! Putting on the Beef Stew now. (Nope, don't have the proper seasoning for jambalaya in house. Else I just might.)

Not quite as exciting as the World Cup.

The weird game that started it all. Explained.
