I think it would be cool if everybody writes about their favorite serve and describe how they do it

I personally dont have a favorite

I love when I break out the fast, deep serve with my long pips for the first time in a match. I over-exaggerate the stroke to make it look like it's really spinny, but really it's just fast and dead. I'd say 95% of the first time I use it in a match I get the point as I watch my opponent dump the ball into the net and look, confused, at their rubber.

Particulary, I like spinny serves as near of the net as it's possible. Surprising how many players get difficulties returning these balls and give an easy to attack third ball.

Forehand Tomahawk with topspin short to their backhand works well for me in relation to getting points. Pendulum forehand with top sometimes comes out nice too. Not that I could get away with doing either serve throughout a whole match or could do them on my backhand

2nd that one.
And just a pendulum side- backspin very deep and fast into their backhand corner.. always forces them back..

Ok guys, I probably do a lot of this stuff you are referring to, but can you describe what a FH tomahawk is. I do a BH pendulum, but the FH doesn't seem much of a serve to me unless I am misinterpreting. Give me some coaching please in case I'm missing something I shouldn't be.

well i think my favorite serve is a BH sidespin serve, very long!
i make them so that they go as far as possible on the openents side so that he/she don't know what to do and the point is mine

another serve i like, is a very short with BH and lots of backspin.
i made them so that the ball arrives as near as possible to the net on the openents side of course

well i'm improving FH serves but i don't do they in matches until i can do them well.

of course at every point, i change the positions of the serves but these two are my favorites ;D

For an example of a tomahawk serve see http://tabletennis.about.com/od/howtoserve/ss/fh_tomahawk.htm. I also find the opposite stroke of a fore-hand windscreenwiper in an anti-clockwise direction with topspin works well if played into your opponents cross-over point. Again topspin, if read wrongly by your opponents, offers a good chance of an easy kill :D It can backfire of course if anticipated :?

Fast no-spin (disguised as backspin) to deep forehand or deep backhand:

usually lands me the point or sets up an easy winner. Don't do it too much though, if the opponent reads it right it's easy to attack ...

Aw, c'mon Joe, I'm just a lowly under-1700 player, and you're a mighty, almost 2000 point player! I doubt I'd have much of a chance against you, it couldn't hurt to share your wisdom with me.

OK, I will tell you this. If you come to the Arnold Killerspin Classic in Columbus or the St. Joes in South Bend I will show them to you personally. Deal?

Heh heh heh, deal. I'm planning on being at the St. Joe's in May, I can't make the Arnold though. I'll see them up close in personal then.
