As much bellyaching about balls that I've seen around table tennis (and believe me, the move to 40mm from 38mm had ten times more bellyaching compared to the more recent move to plastic balls) the tennis people have it a lot worse..

Not only is there a variety of different balls that play differently, they don't last very long. You open a can of three or four balls, and then you have to "warm them up" (they're apparently too bouncy right out of the can), and then you play a couple games and then the balls go "dead" and you have to pop open another can. Good grief. I remember there were people suggesting that we use pressured balls as a way of making plastic balls bouncier (this was back when they were experimenting with different plastics, before the seamless balls came out and even before the DHS cellulose acetate balls were out). So we'd get our table tennis balls in little teeny pressure cans - one would wonder how long they'd last once opened.

I seem to recall people selling squeeze bulb pumps with needles for re-pressuring tennis balls.. I wonder if they still do this or not.

All that technology and they've still not found a waterproof tennis ball!

Come to think of it.. why ARE tennis balls fuzzy? With golf balls, we know why they have dimples, but I haven't found (or haven't had one thrust upon me as yet) an explanation about the fuzz.

i agree with you, tennis is a good game but playing it even for once you need a basic level stick which will come under $50, After that, you need a court where you can play, you can't just swing your racket into the air, you need a ball to make a shot.

The total cost for recreational players is almost more than $150.

THE ONLY SPORT IN THE FUTURE.

The doomsday is coming. After it came down onto us, the rest of the survivors shall be living underground for ever, spacy rooms for all the "major" sports become unavailable once and for all.. The only sport well-fit for our dwelling underground is gambling and ping-pang. Get ready.
