Just bought some YinHe Y+ (bue label) balls. My Chinese friend thinks they may be fake. I won't go into how he determined that, at least for now, but is this a growing problem?? Another of our Chinese players mentioned that he thinks some, if not all, of our DHS balls are fake! What the heck is going on? Has anyone else run into this?

I don't think it's a growing problem, fake balls have been around for many years, and it seems to be more common since the introduction of plastic balls, probably because it's made it more profitable.

Personally I've only ever seen DHS fake balls, probably because they are the most common and popular, and not the cheapest.

I'd be surprised to see fake Yin-he balls though, as they're not really that popular (and quite new), even though IMO they're as good as the best of them.

NO FAKE, JUST AN INTENTIONAL SUBSTITUTION.

Fake balls do not exist as such. All balls are coming from the same grinding basket Those you think to be a fake product are the substandard species labeled with three stars. It is how the ball-making factory like DHS would sell off their inferior products instead of a first-class product. Just a dirty trick as practised by DHS factory.

Yes they do... just because you've not seen them, does not mean they don't exist. ;)
I've seen ones with dodgy printing, with the wrong fonts or colours, definitely fakes.

Well, then, the big question would be: how do you determine beyond doubt that what you're getting is "real" - BEFORE you order it?? Are there any US suppliers beyond reproach, in regard to balls?

Get them from a reputable source, I guess. Paddle Palace, for instance, or Zeropong.

There are fake DHS DJ40+. They are light, cheap and the game resembles the D40. Compared to the original DJ40, their font is not as clear.
