Is there an alternative to Roundell?

In the US, I thought about trying Roundell, but at $51, plus shipping, PLUS a handling charge...the total would have been over $60 for a sheet. :headbang:

Not a lot cheaper, but Andro Roxon 330 is like a soft Roundell; Roxon 400 maybe just a tad harder. I only tried Roundell a little bit, but it seemed to have a lot of characteristics of the Roxon series.

Donic Baracuda is listed for T05 fx but Baracuda has a harder sponge. Has anyone tried Donic Baracuda Big Slam? It is supposed to be softer. I wonder how it compares.

Also, how does spin compare as well as throw and speed? Does Baracuda spin enough to bring ball back down to table hard like T05 fx? Thanks :) .

While I can't compare between Galaxy Sun and Mars II rubbers and Butterfly Tenergy rubbers, I just wanted to mention that Galaxy rubbers have very good qualities (speed, control, spin) but the quality of the product itself is not good. The rubber seems brittle, especially around the edges. My "Sun" rubber on Donier Balsa Blade was damaged within first 1-2 hours of play. Mars II developed what looked like an air bubble, but overall held up much better on my GD Superbalsa II blade. It's unfortunate that quality is not up to par, because I do like the way these rubbers play.

i too find the Galazy rubbers brittle mainly Sun. Moon pro isnt as brittle. you ahve to take extreme care when taking off the Sun rubber as it may crack anywhere. i took like its properties. but i dont get the edge cracking like you do

Baracude BS does have a softer sponge. I don't think the topsheet bites quite as much as the Tenergy, but dig the ball in only slightly and you do get very high spin.

tenergy = xiom omega IV series are very close in feel, IV pro is the closest in sponge hardness, so are the other versions, its all down to your own preference on sponge hardness

I just tested Sanwei T88-I on one side and Tenergy 05 on the other side of a Stiga Offensive Wood NCT. It turns out T88-I has equal or slightly higher throw, has more spin, and is slightly faster. However T05 has more gears, and is a few grams lighter. Haggisv, why haven't you updated the list with T88-I? This rubber can be a life changer for someone who is dependent on T05.

I second this. I'm not too sure about speed because it's really tough to judge speed from the user's standpoint, but it's definitely pretty dang fast. The throw is a bit less than the Mercury II, which IMO is a bit higher than T05's, so the throw is definitely pretty similar. The spin is nothing short of amazing, I can't even believe how I landed some of the shots because the dip is just incredible! What's more, this rubber doesn't just play like the T05, it even FEELS like the T05. When you really loop drive with it, you feel the ball getting sucked in and spit back out, something I completely did not expect given the hardness of the rubber(39 degrees and it feels like it when you press on it). I was using Mercury II 37 and Moon 38 before, and both seem pretty true to their hardness ratings, and neither gives me much dwell time, so I fully expected the T88-I to spit the ball out too quickly. That was entirely not the case.

Now, I'm not a very experienced EJ, but I've had plenty of experience with T05, Moon 38, Mercury II 36/37, H3Neo 41, and I've played quite a few times with the T64 as well, so I can compare the T88-I to those rubbers. Its playing characteristics is so similar to the T05 in everything but the short game. The difference in the short game is that, well, the T88-I is simply clearly better. It's slightly tacky and not as bouncy as the T05, which makes serving short and overall over the table control much, much better than any of those aforementioned rubbers except maybe the Mercury II 36(btw, it seems like the Mercury II has some sort of cutoff at 36 degrees, as sheets above that hardness are much heavier and bouncier).

I've read a lot of seguso's reviews and I generally agree with him over pretty much everything, but I disagree that the T88-I has less gears than T05. I've always had trouble making tight, slow loops against backspins that barely go out of the table, but with the T88-I it's a friggin breeze. Those loops have to be slow in order for them to land, and the T88-I is just amazing at doing that. Now, maybe he meant that it was tough to slow loop against short topspins, but I'm pretty bad at doing that with any rubber so I can't really judge it well.

There is no similarity between Super Anti and Super Sriver.Super Sriver is a normal inverted rubber with friction but Super Anti is an anti with its frictionless surface. Thanks
