I'm a bit thrown with the result of Palio Thor's as i think it has a very hard sponge. Perhaps you measure hardness of rubber+sponge and not only the sponge, this would explain thor's low value.

Dear Haggisv,

Are you sure of actual Shore's type you are currently using for testing rubbers??
It should be "A" type, not "C".
What makes me suspect so is the fact that the resulting hardness numbers I have now got with my durometer"A" came off very, very close to yours.
And, moreover, the durometer"C" is not specifically designated for testing on soft rubbers. It is rather for medium hard plastics.

It tell me the device that it's Shore C, and that it's meant for soft foam and sponge. It is possible that it's not labelled properly... I guess it does not matter though, it's only the relative values that matter.

I've updated the table with a whole range of extra rubbers that I've measure.
Thanks for all the people that have given me cut-off to measure! :rock: :rock: :rock:

I've also moved the table to a new site, a site that I'll be moving all my information and reviews to eventually, which will probably take me a year or two to do. :(
Good thing about the new site is that the table is now in columns that you can sort, so you can sort by brand, rubber type of sponge hardness. You can also search, to filter out the ones you're not interested in. The new table is here:

For anyone that might be interested, I've just added a heap more values to the Sponge Hardness Table, including a lot of new rubbers.

If anyone has rubbers that are not on the list, any offcuts would be most appreciated, so that I can add then to the list. That's the only way I'll ever get all the rubber in the table. :up:

What hardness could be for palio 2 side loop model 36-38? Comaparing it to acuda 3 it is harder. Acuda s2 could be near, but still it seems that it is harder than it.

Which of the 729s is the old one with the hard blue sponge?? Kinda trying to get my bearings here. I know it was quite a bit harder than Sriver. From what I read here Chinese sponge isn't necessarily so hard any more..

I wonder what scale the Chinese are using - their "degrees" seem to be 10-12 points less than the Durometer readings.

The original 729 Super FX still comes with a blue sponge (and also with an orange sponge), which would be the closest. I used that myself for many years. Yes Chinese rubbers use a different durometer scale for their own ratings.

Hmmm.. The 729 Super FX doesn't seem to be listed. Sriver averages at 54, there's only two or three of the 729 offerings that is harder than that. How times have changed, I guess..

Butterfly rubbers use a different scale from 729 Friendship, so they are not comparable. The 729 Super FX (both normal and especially blue sponge) feel harder then Sriver.
