I picked up another vintage DHS bat with 651 short pips on both sides. Looks like 2.0mm, comparing it to my 032 cpen it hits very very well, and has the same 5-ply configuration. Possibly a pre-PF4 bat? Check out the older 651 short pips compared to the newer version! I don’t know the weight yet but I will later!

My latest addition to the collection.


This one is heavy. And still in the box. Weighed out to 227g with 2.0 orange sponge PF4 inverted on both sides. Took it for a round and it still pops and plays well. This was the same exact model I had when I was in the Philippines and lost the bat in a bet/match to a top tier highschool player. I finally have it back after 20+ years. I think it is a pre-PF4 stamped 08. 7-ply.

Another addition to the collection. This one has no trademark on the handle and has a real solid 6ply. Only weighs 122g with old PF4 rubber on it. I will outfit it with probably 651 on one side at max and something with thinner sponge on the other-side maybe medium or long pips.

I love the cool PF4 case. It’s in great shape and adds to the cool vintage vibe.

I changed out the old rubber and added DHS 651 max red on the main playing side and Dawes 388C-1 medium/short Pips 1.4mm with blue sponge the other...probably will be using mostly 651 as I like this sp the best along with Dragonow and Giant Dragon Blast. This PF4 has evenly spaced 6plys not like my other non marked PF4 which is 7 ply but the plies are uneven.

I got this for $20. A 5-ply pre R trademarked dhs bat with an old but very live sheet of 651. This hits phenomenal. Now I understand why He Zhi Wen didn’t like the new 651. I would say Giant Dragon Blast plays slightly similar to the old 651 now, however the sponge is harder than the old 651 sponge. I’m enjoying hard fast blocks and easy flat smashes with this old bat. It could be from the 1970’s considering it has no trademark. Very very cool.

A Shield G311 CPEN. 6-ply outfitted with 2.0 Globe 889-2. A very spinny short pips. Check out the cool net ruler in the back. I had this one as well in my late teens but when I got bored of ping pong I left it at my friends house. When he moved I forgot he left all the ping pong supplies there as well at his old house.
