It's not illegal if a manufacturer does it (and registers the rubber) but it's illegal if we do it.. 
It will be even more illegal come July, but it certainly is fun. I did a similar thing with silicone spray (designed to reduce friction for some industrial purposes) a year ago, to see if I should spend the cash on frictionless pips. |

I did it 3 yrs ago with a Meteor 8512 OX and I actually played with it for a mid season on a Vari M3 Balsa blade. It was pretty funny to see the face of my opponents, but that way I saw I don't want to play frictionless... no variation at all. I still have it lying there on my rubber box

I've got this teflon spray - I did it to a sheet of 755. It worked, but turned the rubber a bit white. hehe. |

Not sure if it was that brand, but it didn't smell at all. Picked it up from Bunnings. Can't find the can anymore. |

Perhaps next time before you play in a tournament match, you should ask the opponent to check his rubber and SMELL it first to see if it has been illegally treated.
