GKI KungFu is not faster than 729 surely? Its a crappy rubber that just "feels" faster just because of the hard heavily varnished plywood blade. Once you can confidently start hitting the ball with the 729 OEM, no GKI Kungfu rubber or bat can beat the amount of speed you can generate.

And yep I agree its too early for the beginner to start understanding Euro vs Chinese :rofl:

729 rubber will work better as you learn to play better with it. M8 + 729 should allow ANY player to train up to almost Amateur or even dare I say PRO level ! 8)

It's the other way around - the 729 is (probably way) faster than the Kung Fu.

My current problem - deciding between Evolution MX-P and EL-S... :lol: (I'm looking for that rubber that's too fast and spinny for me to control - haven't found it yet - even Rasant Turbo's usable. MX-P's a little lighter - both are HEAVY compared to all the stuff I've been using - and is faster but has "lower throw" so a little less like Tenergy 05 than EL-S.. at least according to the Tabletennis11 reviewer guy...)

I think most of us have forgotten what it was like to pick up a bat for the very first time and not being able to control the ball at all.. :lol: Something that really brought this home to me earlier this year was when they set up a table at a shopping mall during the Chinese New Year holidays and invited people to play. One evening I brought some balls and bats and thought I'd hit around with some people I'd been hitting with the previous evening - these people had some Butterfly Addoys and such, very slow, dead beginner rackets. Well, they didn't show up, and I hit with random people (I lent them one of my Yinhe pre-mades with 9000). The thing that struck me was how any little bit of spin would cause the ball to fly off into space. Even some people who had basement experience couldn't handle that bat. If you wonder why those ultra-dead drugstore pre-mades from the likes of Stiga and Butterfly exist, it's because of this. Make them any faster or spinnier (like the Yinhe or DHS premades) and the general public wouldn't be able to do anything with them. Next year, if they do the same thing, I'll bring some hardbats and 44mm balls.

It's been 8 months that I've playing with the Sanwei M8 + Friendship 729 rubber. My forehand loop, drive and backhand topspin has improved very much. I still have trouble pushing or chopping with that bat. We mostly play doubles and I've completely stopped pushing or chopping . Almost everyone that I play with play chop and I'm facing huge problems in singles matches. My problem is if I have time I can manage to chop well with my bat but when I'm facing continuous rallies of chops near the board the ball flies off the bat when I try to slice the ball well and there is almost no backspin when I try to just push it back.

Any advice on pushing and chopping with the Friendship 729 ?
