Retail behaviour is that costs will rise to what the consumer can afford to spend anyway, so I imagine that this will be used as an opportunity to increase costs for some products at the least. However, it may also not have that impact, other then the "new rubber from X in our very own Z colour!!!" being a little more then the previous coloured product.

Also consider that one side still needs to be black, so if you have one product that is black and *insert colour* do you sell them for two separate prices? This would i think cause much loss of PR in a brand.

If TSP releases P1R in blue, I'm buying a sheet. It'll match my OOAK shirt nicely!

And this might be a reason to ban your T-shirt ... for matching the colour of your rubber... if the table colour, rubber colour blend into each other ... how do I know what stroke or when you played the ball on your racket ???

Using colour as a deception was the reason we have mandatory red+black rubbers ... once more ... again ... we will face issues with this...

Im not convinced not even a little tiny bit ...

Imagine ... all the poorly made batches of rubbers get the colouring of mixes of orange, yellow and red :envy: :headbang: ... or manufacturers make it into neon violet or neon green or neon yellow or neon orange or some horrible glow-in-the-dark crazy scheme ...

Or Chinese start using "National" versions of "red" rubber with "blue sponge" and NO ONE can buy that colour EVER AGAIN! Only Black with blue sponge will be available but it WONT BE NATIONAL :headbang:

Players wear red or black shirts in international competition all the time and somehow this isn't an issue. Heck, the CNT's most common shirt color is red.

I feel all nostalgic at the thought of gold/amber coloured rubbers. Loved Tornado and Magic Carbon back in the day, used amber & black so could do it again!

Look into the old rules about clothing.. Plain dark colors (yes, red or black were allowed), but NO white. PLAIN shirts - NO markings or badges, except for one tiny one (they specified a maximum size) on the front of the shirt. These rules were in place all through the 1980s at least...

A mite expensive.. but maybe I'll get a sheet to freak out the others... Is this anti? "Prevention Arc" makes me think it is... "Octopus" also seems like a typical name you'd give to anti, long pips and the like... Tuttle IS a well known brand. They make 868.

Don't get the yellow, it's ugly. I thought it'd be like the old Yasaka Tornado, it's not. Looks slightly tacky.

Just a few specific colors would be allowed for professional play.
ITTF will determine the best optimal colours after 2020 Tokyo Olympics

JFYI: The picture that Igor posted comes from a USSR book on table tennis competition rules printed in 1975 and has nothing to do with the latest change in rules. :)
