Hello!
After a lot of research I have decided to try a Hinoki single ply 8 mm thick blade. I have an offensive style and rely on spin and a good amount of speed. I have read something about it being better to use hard rubber on such a blade but wonder what that means (what kind of hard rubber). Does anyone have any experience with such blades and can you recommend some rubber ? I am used to play with Tenergy on balsa blades but doubt the Tenergy is hard enough.
Happy to have any information at all.
Cheers.

You'd probably find that pretty much any inverted sheet with max sponge thickness would work, at least to some degree.. Just avoid, say, Reactor Ckylin - those don't work with ANYTHING unless you want what amounts to very grippy anti.

Is that an 8mm Kiso Hinoki blade, or another type of Hinoki? I ask because 8mm is quite thin for Kiso Hinoki, which means it's probably going to be quite a bit flex and vibration.

Sorry my mistake it's in fact 9 mm Hinoki - and not KISO.

9mm is also rather thin, Kiso or not... The nice expensive ones are 12-13mm. And heavy. I don't think it'd flex (9mm is 9mm, whether it's one ply or not), but it might vibrate.

hinoki blade thickness ranges from 8mm to 11mm at the most. for high-end hinoki blades the thickness is usually 9mm, 10mm and 10.5mm. 12-13mm probably exists somewhere out there, but its pretty rare.

tenergy is fine, works just as well on a hinoki blade. hardness of rubber is just a matter of your own taste. some play soft rubber while others play with hard.

dignics 80 on hinoki is pretty good

Multiple plies of wood glued together make it much stiffer.

Depends on which direction you're talking about. If it's lengthwise (i.e. along the grain) the single ply would be stiffer. Across the width, the multi-ply will be stiffer. 9mm is very thick, compared to most multi-ply blades, and that would make it stiffer in the first place. If you're talking about the damping of vibrations, rather than mechanical stiffness per se, then yes, a multi-ply blade will vibrate less.

Well I can confirm that it's ok and behaves well with Tenergy 05 2.1
Blocking is done with lots of control. All passive game is very good; attacking with top spin requires solid technique, because when you speed things up the blade is so hard that balls catapult. There she is, I'm in love :
