I understand lot of amateurs are obsessed with using exactly the same blade and rubber that a pro uses (of course under the naïve assumption that pros use the same stock blade & rubber, while the simple truth is that the pros probably use a custom blade with manufacturer brand & type stamped on it LOL….a (top) pro may even be getting a percentage of blade or rubber sale !!!)

On the flip side (to start with) has anyone considered the possibility that their favorite pro may be using wrong rubber and or blade that may not be the best match ( a perfect match not possible) for a pros playing style (because often their coach asked them to do so as well) ? Or would an amateur rather worship their favorite pro and blindly try to imitate their rubber / blade, though that may not be even remotely close to this amateur’s playing style LOL.

So if you are further interested in such a discussion (I hope I am not offending your favorite pro), can you think of a player using the wrong blade and or rubber ? I can think of a few (pro) players but I will wait and see if and who you can expose

I am interested in the discussion, although I do not know of any pro players who have the wrong set up. My opinion is that there are plenty of similar set ups that would work for each type of player and that pro players almost by definition would optimize the equipment they use with their extensive training time.

Always thought Wang Yang would do better with long pips like p1r as opposed to short pips 889-2 to make heavier backspin, maybe he's tried and didn't suit him?

MIND THE LIMITS.
Friends, I take leave to make a special remark here/ It comes clearly from my umpiring practice that most pips-out rubbers proved an outlaw product, TIBHAR OX Dtecs mostly. It is factory's fault to all appearance, that is too long pip trunk and/or too thick base layer were found on racket coverings oftentimes.
Thanks.
