Hello all.
i'm a 1200 (europe) rating player so not very good.

But i have problems with my forehand.
For a long time I played with chinese tacky rubbers like the DHS skyline.
Few years ago I tried long pips. It was ok and won more, but I am to offensive with the backhand.

After the pips periode (one year with special LP training) i went back to my old bat. But somehow it didn't work anymore.
So I changed to my current setup. Andro OFF frame, Rasanter R37 BH and R47 FH.
My backhand is much better than forehand. With backhand I can open with a lot off spin, low spin but fast, I can do everything with it.
When in a slow backspin rally the BH is the one starting the attacks. With the rasanter R37 it works great.

Forehand is the problem. I can't do real openings with it. I tried for many years but somehow it's just not working.
I'm to old to start changing my complete playing style. It's just not working.
The problem I have with this rubber is the bounce. Even with basic contra the ball bounces to high (high arc?). I need to be lower.
So I am thinking of getting the R42 or R37. But what about short fast pips? Is that an option? These don't jump up from the bat like bounce rubbers right?
It looks like it works great close to table for flick and smash and fast drive ..... Or should I just get the R37/R42?
Or should I go to hurricane 8 or something?

I actually think short pips could be worth trying. Personally I like DHS pips - you could try sharping 2. Not expensive, and pretty quick.

First I would recommend to twiddle the racket and try your BH rubber (R37) on the FH side and see how it plays. If you like it - just switch to R37 on the FH and you're good to go
If it's still too bouncy then you really could try a tacky rubber (can't suggest one because I've been playing with Battle 2 for years now and it's the only one I've I tried - I like it though )
Short pips have overall very different feeling - I would suggest you try it on someone else's racket first if possible before switching to SP.

The R37 has a lower arc, but is a lot slower. I have played with hurricane 8 before on the FH, but that was when I had LP on BH and somehow it plays different when using fast or slow rubber on the other side

I have weaker FH and play pretty flat but I discovered that short pips are not easier even just for smash as timing opportunity window is much shorter. Nor modern fast pips are easy to control in delicate strokes. If you have strong BH you can try fast short pips here but I personally do not recommend trying SP on FH.

On my FH I prefer hard fast rubbers without much catapult like Tibhar Evolution MX-S or my current Palio AK47 Red. They are much less affected by incoming spin and have lower bounce then typical tensors but require positive active stroke like Chinese style rubbers.

I also got the remark of a harder fast rubber is the bounce is much less. Mark V m2 he said. Or my old skyline (not neo) because I know that one.
Just for the fun off it I think I get the cheap 802-40 and play with it one evening. Than I know how it feels and get put it out off my head.
If it's not working I try a harder rubber.

What would be a good rubber if not SP?

I need a lower arc or bounce or what it's called.
My problem with this rubber (Rasanter R47) is that the ball goes to high.
They told me to get a harder rubber, but the new modern rubbers all have some kind off extra bouncy sponge to generate speed.
Also if i attack and the ball comes back the second shot is often just over the table. In the beginning I thought that I could change my style, but after playing 40 years its just not happening .
So instead me adjusting to the rubber, I need a rubber that fit's me.

Or maybe just go back to the DHS Skyline TG3 in max?

I bought the 802-40 just to test it out.
Played 3 matches with it. Shortgame was very good, but the more attacking balls didn't go very well. Close to table it was alright, but a little after the table it was harder to get timing right.
To play good with it I need to change my stikes to much ... after playing 40 years i better find something that fits my style instead I change my style to the rubbers.

I play with more spin as I thought. So I will test the DHS Skyline TG3 (non neo) in max to see how that goes.
I played with that in previous years so it won't feal weird.
