Very nice comparison Speedplay!

The handle sound a bit dodgy, do think that was just a one-off, or do you think it was normal for that blade?

Speedplay, WTG in your 1st look thread. One of these days, I will hold a weapon of Mass Destruction (Wavestone, not SC 900) and do a review.

You are slacking my friend. I see no babe factor in your review - 10 demerits for this infraction!

Honestly, I feel the T-8 is clearly faster than my TBS with the same rubbers, even bouncier. Mid distance had the same or better power than the TBS. Then again, that is what I felt and mid distance here is like just short of a meter behind the endline.

Well I've been waiting quite some time for this and its finally happened.
 8)

I like the comparison and I do agree the handle on the T-8 is nothing special to look at. In fact my T-8 and T-2 handles look virtually identical. I wouldn't say they had thin handles, but they are nowhere near thick either. I wouldn't mind if they were a bit thicker, so perhaps Wavestone could be good here. Don't know why, but I always thought its handle was thin.

Can't say I am surprised by WS winning the comparison, I'm sure as objectively as Slip tried to be, there is almost no doubt he would have some bias here. I mean after owning 3 WS and playing with them almost exclusively for a year or more, there is an intimacy not developed with anything else. So T-8 actually performed pretty well. Now the way I see it is that the WS must have a bit extra grunt to the T-8, but the T-8 is a bit smoother and more "loop supportive". So sounds to me if looping is your game then T-8 may be a better choice, but if smashing is the go then WS might be better.

I must say for me, I like to smash more. so perhaps I should check out a WS. While Slip likes to loop more, so maybe T-8 will become his weapon of choice eventually. Would be an odd turn of events if we ended up using opposing blades this way. Sounds like Slip needs a grip tape though.

You must be talking about the flared handles of T series, because the straight handles are comfortably enough .

Yes ok, but what about the Wavestone handle?

Had another go with it (T8) today and first impressions are still valid. Didn't intend to bring it out today, but since the Platin wouldn't stick to the balde, I was forced to bring this out and play some with it. Game results were, from winning about 85-90% with the Wavestone set up, it went down to roughly 50% with the T8, how ever, this isn't all to blame on the blade, since the 999 EN I have on it really is to old to use and the Best Anti on it is the red one, which I like less then the black one.

Only thing that surprised me was, when I went from the T8 to Wavestone on last session, I felt a big change in the handles, but today, switching the other way around, the difference wasn't as noticeable. I still think the handle is a little to thin (and perhaps a tad short?) for my likings, but it felt a lot better then my first impressions with it.

I also noticed a slight feel of carbon this time. Not much and not disturbing, but the "ping" feeling was there on some shots and this is something I have never experienced with the Wavestone.

with this post.. i am confirmed that you are playing something else not t-8... or may be spurious t-8 :)

T-8 really has zero ping.. t1, t2 or t4 ... i could understand.

The T-8 certainly has a bit of ping. It just isn't so pronounced. The Wavestone has a toally different sound and it is not pingy at all - sounds nice and solid/crisp.

Nice, well written review!
Have you ever used a blade that has a higher total score for you? If not, why doesn't this clench the 60/60?

Fair enough. So, what you're saying is that you've used blades with aspects that have been better than the Wavestone, but overall, you think the Wavestone is the best overall for you?

Still, if it's your ideal blade, 1/10 of the mark is still quite a bit to mark it down.

I quite like my T-8 but it's not as fast as I expected it to be, the T-1 imo is quite a lot faster. My T-8 weighed in at 82g however.
