After trouble with my Yasaka blade, forum members suggested the Stiga Clipper as a replacement.

I asked a clubmate (who I know has lots of old blades-he has been playing for 50 plus years) if he had one I could try. He couldn't find a Clipper but did find this old Stiga Offensive Kjell Johansson blade. It was in a bad state when he lent me it but I've
done some work on it. I now feels nice in the hand (though the handle is slightly oddly shaped) and I plan to give it a go. Not sure how old it is -brief online search would suggest early 1980s?



Any thoughts on how the blade compares with the contemporary Stiga Offensive?
any suggestions if it will work with a mainly medium pace looping and (when serving) third ball game-
with what sort of rubbers?

Its beautiful, and will play superbly, the don't make em like that anymore.

I slapped on a couple of sheets of Globe 999T-the rubber I keep going back to when I'm unsure of what to use.

The blade felt good. certainly not fast (though that may also be the Globe 999T) but nice feeling on loops. The relative
lack of pace allowed me to play of a more allround game -which is probably my natural style.

I plan to use it in a match on Thursday-so my view might change.

Every one I have ever seen at a conic handle. I own the allround version from 1970's and it has a conic handle. I also know the offensive version was a conic handle. Perhaps they manufactured a few in countries other than north america that were flared. Very odd.

Maybe I've been sloppy in describing it as a 'Kjell Johansson' Blade.
When I've searched under this title I tend to get pictures like this-i.e. with varnished
conical handles:

this blade is different-and (I imagine) more recent-late 1980s???

perhaps this blade is better described as a Stiga Offensive-rather than as a 'Kjell Johansson'
On the handle it says 'model designed by Kjell Johansson'.

anyone have any info on the age/ construction/ of this blade?

btw, I've enjoyed using it over the last couple of weeks (with HNeo 3 on the FH and Globe 999T on the BH).

I can agree with baal. I have stiga offensive which I have bought some 3-4 yrs ago and it is not even close no that similar to old stiga which was fantastic for feel and control. new stiga offensive is stiffer and somehow...just not least special

it certainly does have a nice feel -though I haven't compared it to a contemporary Stiga Offensive.
Am hoping that my club mate might have some other nice old blades for me to try (I also plan
to keep looking in charity shops for old blades-anyone else had luck in finding anything good in one?).

I have an old Stiga Clipper Wood with Kjell Johansson handle (a little like a cone). I think the name Kjell Johansson only has to do with the handle, not the blade itself. I bought mine around 1987 I think. Still have it but it is not good for devensive style (but I treid it with TSP Curl P1r 0,6 mm, felt ok)

That is an Stiga 2000 offensive blade the only Stiga blade that had an AN handle. This was my first real blade in the beginning of the 80s.

At my club one of the players have same blade , very nice feel medium feel great for topspin , to bad cant bye these any more
