vs Russell - practice match 15 Feb 2011. The more aggressive style I've changed to, after about 3 weeks of practicing driving with the long pip.

Many thanks for the vids, it looked a bit like a superblock kind of blocking
I played against Roy in Doubles I remember him with some strange handle grip, his anti serves caught me out (I wonder why I missed a couple of easy shots and it wasn't untill after the umpire said he used the anti on some serves)

You see Greggy the umpire, I coundn't watch the first vid (I didn't want to ) I think Lyndon W never did 1 attack untill halfway thru the last game, at the next table had Kevin F using D-Tech grass red ox (without gluesheet)

Yes that is me, being an official umpire I umpired the 40' s test match and I did great job.

Still waiting to see me game against Stehen Tai, or anybody Ha ha.

Yep, Greggy did a good job with the umpiring, and also did a good job getting ranked #7 or so in the O/40 order of merit! Plus I saw him up on the medal stand a few times too for various events.

I'm getting more aggressive these days Alex - I'm currently working on my BH loop with my new grip - starting to make progress after only a few days of realizing I can actually use it against a backspin ball.

Thanks other Greg, I did pick up 4 bronze medals 40 and 50 teams and 40 and 50 doubles and as you know was 10-6 up against you for the 40 mixed doubles and could not finish it to get bronze, but I did think Akiko and I were lucky to be in that position anyway.

Greg played alot of agressive games, the back hand new grip loop with smooth rubber comes out of nowhere and is spiny as hell BTW.

I did play Greg but he gave me a kicking but next time it may be different ??? I will train harder especailly.

Greg what did you think of Malclom Darroch?

Malcolm is obviously a class player who is still a bit rusty around the edges after taking a break. He has a very nice serve to the short forehand, a big forehand followup, a slightly more erratic backhand, and the fastest forehand counterloop movement I've seen, where he actually moves forward and counterloops over the table. Very fast feet to go with it too.

It was good fun to play against him, I hope he continues to play and get back into touch. I'm planning to be a bit better myself come the Aussie vets in October, I'd love to get another shot at him.

Seems like quite a nice guy as well. Always good to get a quality player back playing again.

It would be fun to see him take on Mr. Han if Malcolm had a bit more training under his belt.

If I recall correctly, when I called the timeout I basically went over to my team mates and said "I'm calling this just to have a rest!" - then we laughed and discussed what serve to do, and whether to attack or play tight. But I was pretty tired by that stage, as you can see it was a pretty long match.

I've only flicked through a bit of the match, but you can see my dodgy forehand chopping technique quite well in the this video, where my form is bad, and I struggle to chop heavy consistently with the inverted. I've since fixed those problems up, as I've mentioned recently on the About.com website.

I just posted this video since I didn't really have a decent chopping video of my play on YouTube, and I knew this match wasn't a bad example of my play back then, and I had it on hand since I'd been doing some analysis of my old form while searching for a solution to my bad forehand chop technique, and comparing my form to other choppers.

For those interested, I think I was using the Tackiness Chop 1.1mm red on the FH, Stiga Destroyer OX on the backhand, on my Matsushita Pro Special blade.
