Nobody of this forum interested in becoming a commentator for the itTV? They are looking for one right now. It would be great if one of our fellow pippers could get his hands on this job.

Here's the content of the e-mail I received from the ITTF.

" Become the voice of table tennis

We are giving the chance of a lifetime to someone who feels they've got what it takes to become the 'Voice of Table Tennis'.

Have you always wanted to be a commentator?
Have you got the knowledge and insight to engage our viewers?
Does travelling to the biggest events all over the world sound brilliant?

If the answer is YES.... YES.... YES.... then we want to hear from you, literally.

With the ever-increasing popularity of the itTV (ITTF's Web TV Channel) and the continually increasing TV audience across English speaking countries the ITTF is now seeking to add a new person to its list of English commentators.

We will offer 1 lucky and talented person the chance to commentate at the Men's World Cup in Paris from 11-13 November, all expenses paid.

So how do you get a chance at this fantastic opportunity?

It's easy; all you need to do is prove to us that you're the best commentator out there by sending in a recording of you commentating on the final game of the Men's Singles from this year's World Table Tennis Championships Final.

To enter please follow the instructions below:

1. Download the recording software from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
2. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05RHiByMn8g
3. Follow the instructions on the video
4. Send your audio file in WAV format to Steve Dainton ([email protected]) and Richard Pettit ([email protected])
5. When sending your file please include the following information in your email:

* Full Name
* Date of Birth
* Gender
* Nationality and Country of Residence
* Relevant Table Tennis experience (if any)
* Relevant Commentary experience (if any)

Top Tips

Speak clearly and remember to add value to the match through interesting facts and insights that enhance the viewer's experience. Don't just say what you see or talk excessively during the points.

Download head-to-head statistics - http://mxm.mxmfb.com/rsps/ct/c/1409/r/43345/l/20854

Listen to the professionals and learn from the tone, pace and excitement in their voice as they describe the action - http://mxm.mxmfb.com/rsps/ct/c/1409/r/43345/l/20856

Listen to your first attempt and see what you could improve; remember practice makes perfect! "

I know one thing: if the lucky one will be working together with the "I comment but know nothing about the sport, so I shout and yell ooh & ah" guy, the ITTF will be looking for second commentator soon. :lol:

I don't see a deadline anywhere. Maybe you can contact one of these two fellows to gain knowledge of the deadline:

I got a personal Email from Adham regarding this (as well as the official one from the ITTF)... I he and the ITTF are very keen to get a good commentator, and I agree it's quite important.

Anyone applying for this?

It's interesting that they're not trying to tap former pro players they way the major TV networks have done with considerable success.

I think you'd have a good chance, as long as you don't reveal to them that you're MNNB :lol: :lol: :lol:

I think commentating takes a lot of confidence combined with great knowledge as well as an extremely tough skin because no matter what you say, its bound to upset someone. Not a task for the feint of heart for sure. But a great opportunity for someone I'm sure. I have a feeling you would want to be very pro-ITTF :P :lol:

This test will just be an artificial acting job. We already know that Zhang Jike had a 10-5 lead, blew five championship points, then won 14-12 after Wang Hao made a bunch of unforced errors. Than Jike ripped off his shirt and ran around like a madman. So we have to act surprised and excited and try to make it sound spontaneous.

I'd rather do it on a live event so it would be real, genuine commentary.

I recorded my first attempt last night. It's trickier than I thought. Might try again today before sending tomorrow
