the joo se hyuk blade looks like this:
planchonello 0.8
poplar or some porous wood 0.6
kiri?
poplar
planchonello

the A. grubba has outer and secondary layers of yellow anigre. not sure about the core.

the viscaria composition is koto-ALC-balsa-ALC-koto, i believe.

Blade: Dr. Neubauer Firewall +
FH: Butterfly Tenergy 05
BH: Spinlab Vortex 2.3
Historical material:
Does anyone know about the woods the Nittaku Combi-Wood Attack was made of? I know the fh side had a rosewood veneer as second layer, and the bh probably limba. However, which type of wood was the core worked up with? And which ones were the cover veneers?

I think asymmetric blades are of special interest (for "materialists") and I found data of this one:

Nimatsu Tsunami Combi Attack: 0,6mm limba - 2,0mm balsa - 6,0mm balsa - 2,0mm balsa - 0,6mm ayous

I´m just wondering about ayous on the (suggested) bh side. This wood is normally used as core wood not for outer veneers. Does anyone have an idea how this may work out? About pliability? Is it true ayous is identical to abachi?

I've seen a 1-ply Ayous blade, and it felt quite bouncy and lively, and the feel was fairly soft. It felt a little like hinoki, although it's heavier.

Most are all hinoki. There are a few hinoki + carbon. Dunno if they make any others.

That's pretty accurate. It has less vibration that hinoki, it's noticeably faster with fewer gears, semi-soft, pretty stiff, and fairly heavy. But as a thin veneer, it would probably be largely indistinguishable from most other offensive wood veneers.

I just noticed that the composition of the TBS and the Viscaria are not what I've heard. I think they both have Ayous-Kiri-Ayous as the inner plies, instead of Limba-Kiri-Limba and just Balsa for the TBS and the Viscaria respectively. Also, the old Taksim had the same composition except with Ayous top ply I believe.
