I guess it's time to stop playing Skyrim and answer these questions! Unfortunately for you, like mynamenotbob, I'm pretty boring too.

From the top

rodderz wrote:
why the name Silver?

Well, back in the late 90's there was this computer game called Silver...
rodderz wrote:
who's the best player you have played?

uh. in terms of actual games, probably George Tang. It was very one sided (not my side!)
rodderz wrote:
which is your main social activity photography or Table tennis or other?

Tabletennis. I don't think computer games count as social haha. Photography is something I do when I'm bored. Also Squash, RC racing, drinking (hey, it's social!) and now badminton.
rodderz wrote:
who your favorite player(s)?

Favourite? hmm. Ma Lin (overall), Xu Xin (his RPB from the FH side is magic), RSM (!!!).
rodderz wrote:
You can use shkehand grip as well which gets you better results?

I can't play sh properly anymore - the FH loop timing is completely different. I can BH hit/loop and chop both sides, but that's about it. As for results wise, it's too hard to tell as I don't know where I would have been if I had continued as a SH (I switched about 18 mths in due to BH/FH grip changing).

RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
How often do you play TT and why hasn't your rating improved in years (is it due to EJing)?

I've started playing less in the last few years, though my game has certainly improved up to around 6 months ago (which it's completely fallen off now due to injury). Previously it was 3 to 4 times a week. Right now you're lucky if it's once. Is it due to EJing? Maybe, maybe not. Around 24 to 30 mths ago I was pretty solid on what I actually used in matches, the EJing was just mucking around with other stuff, which I didn't do on leadup to tournaments.
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
Do you EJ any more or less than you did a couple of years ago?

Much less, then more, then less :P
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
Which do you prefer SH or CP?

CP. It's more natural to me. SH is probably more versatile though. I always feel gumby if I chop a ball on the FH as CP.
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
What is your favorite setup, if you don't have to consider humidity?

Uh. If i've been practicing? Probably an acoustic or maybe a Mizutani with T05 fh and T64 bh. These blades are quite versatile, reasonably fast and have good stiffness
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
Do you play in a league?

Nah, no leagues up here. Not enough people and the clubs are 1 club every 300 or 400kms.

haggisv wrote:
How did you develop your skills at judging/testing equipment?

Beats me. Tried a lot of things, my stroke was fairly typical, could tell what worked for me and what didn't.
haggisv wrote:
Why do you prefer cpen over shakehand?

1) dont' have to grip shift to get a more natural bh (Talking RPB here)
2) Easier to play down the line
3) RPB is fun.
haggisv wrote:
When will you finally cave in and play with pips?

Actually it could be soon. Depends if I manage to fix my shoulder. I *can't* accelerate my arm to counterloop at the moment - pain, etc. And it's not going away.

gdogg1 wrote:
Is Outlaw more affected by high humidity than other inverted rubbers?

It's more affected than most, but certainly not the worst. I think it's the hard, shiny topsheet plus the hard sponge that does it. Other Chinese type rubbers are either sticky enough to ignore it or pliable enough so it's not an issue.

Debater wrote:
1. You often keep your posts very very short is that because you have little patience or are direct or shy or believe in a minimum of effort to achieve a result? More than a one word answer please - 2 will do fine

Little patience.
Actually I often write something, read it then close the window without posting. Probably best that you dont know why.
Debater wrote:
2. What's your prefered playing style?

Double sided looper
Debater wrote:
3. When you are choosing a set up to play with how do you decide what works for you and what order do you chose your equipment eg forehand rubber first, backhand rubber first or blade first?

Previously I was
1) Primary shot ie, FH loop -> FH rubber
2) Feel -> Blade
3) Secondary shot, BH loop -> BH rubber.
It's a bit hard to say, as there needs to be a certain synergy between the blade and each rubber. I'm not a believer of the 'unbalanced bat' thing where people say the FH needs to by synergistic with the BH rubber, but then, I'm not a chopper and my rubbers weigh roughly the same.
Right now I almost do it in reverse order, because I'm fixed on my BH rubber (T64).
Debater wrote:
5. What's the hardest thing you have to do as a moderator?

Moderate people. Whatever you do, you're going to piss someone off. Any you have to be careful that they aren't all cyber-vengeance and will continue wasting your time after you ban them.
Debater wrote:
6. Which would you rather be, worlds best photographer or worlds best table tennis player

Neither. I'd rather be the worlds best golfer.
Debater wrote:
7. Why did you join this forum

I joined it when it was new. Was getting fed up with the repetition on other forums. Every repost is a repost is a repost...
Debater wrote:
8. What's your best shot in table tennis / the one you find hardest to do

uh. RPB flick. FH flick.
Debater wrote:
9. How much coaching do you receive / give on average each week

Right now? 0.
Debater wrote:
10. What's the best table tennis piece of advice you've been given

Hold the table.
Debater wrote:
11. What's the best piece of photography advice you've been given

hmm. Probably in relation to ultra wide angles - unless the vista is really that good (it'll never look as good as you think) you need something in the foreground to give it depth.
Debater wrote:
12. You don't post as often as you used to here, why is that?

shifting priorities?

RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
What do you normally do with your Sunday evenings, when not answering forum questions? :P

um. Watching a movie? Tastetesting my scotch collection?
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
Why can't I see you pic on their Facebook page?

What? That is me! Encased in gold!
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
I think you have an umpiring ticket, how often do you umpire events and what levels?

Level 1 only. When I'm at a tournament, depending on who is running it, i'll usually do a couple. I was being pushed to do lvl2 recently as QLD seems to be lacking...
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
Is your interest in TT waning or just TT forums?

Forums. Both lately, due to injury.
RebornTTEvnglist wrote:
When are you going to come to Victoria and play us? :P

Well... Soon?

SuperHappyFunSlider wrote:
why do you change from shakehand to penhold? are you going to change back?

Grip shifting. I used an extreme FH grip and an extreme BH grip. Couldn't change BH to FH.
Maybe I will change back, when I start chopping full time.

Der_Echte wrote:
What enabled you to try out 98% of all rubber and blades manufactured since 2001?

2001? I haven't even been playing since 2001.
Partially because I ran the equipment for my club. Which I dont anymore. But mostly because I'm special. Nyah.

debraj wrote:

I've never been married :P bahahaha.

I missed it!!!!!!!!!! The questioning period wasn't open long....I was only gone over the weekend! I'm one of the people who requested you to do one!!!!!! :headbang:

Oh well.....Here's a quick one: If you had the choice to start your TT career over and were told you could excel at whatever style you wanted to, which would you pick?

Uh. Not counting whatever meagre talent I have, I'd probably be an over/close to the table blocker/counterlooper/hitter. Least effort/most effective.
