Six times stronger than steel, with 20% of the weight. Faster, larger sweet spot, improves your consistency, destructive point-ending power.

They didn't mention good with long pips. :(

Generally a little faster (with some exceptions) but tends to feel the same regardless of where you hit on the blade. Most of the time a crisper feel, unless there is a very soft wood outer ply (which I personally prefer). Definitely a more solid feel than all wood and vibrations are a little different and often more damped with carbon, especially the high-frequency components of the vibration. Some people like it and some people don't. I love the feel of a carbon/arylate composite blade. A good friend of mine, and a much better player, says it feels like having sex with a condom. In the end it's what you like and what works best for you (which is not always the same thing).

Brilliant line! For me at least this is so true. I like to feel the ball when I am hitting it - I like the bat to feel like an extension of my hand (if that makes any sense). With a carbon blade there is a kind of extra barrier between hand-bat-ball which results in severely diminished touch.

Yes I very much prefer non-carbon too. THe video does not really say very much... it just highlights some potential benefits without discussing the downside or implications.

The truth of the matter is that Carbon blades have more difference between the speed in the sweet spot and the outside of the blade... which makes them less consistent. An all+ blade with hard outer plys is the same speed every where, in my mind that's a much better sweet spot and far better blade.

Stronger.. ok I'll give them that. Faster? In low speed situations yes but at full power no, more flexible blades are faster for me.

If I was a pure offensive player ( had been) as a looper I would use a flexed blade non-carbon or something like a Ma LIn soft carbon, bigger sweet spot and ok for blocking. If I wanted to counter hit and power block, the old style gergely 21 was the best offensive controlled blade I ever used. Point for point, blocking was deadly and If you hit it..its not coming back. *then we had speed glue...put rubber on any blade and thats that. today things are different. I notice more people are looking for the right combo for their style. Carbon fiber blades are good depending on the use. you loose a little feel, and control. but gain point ending power and large sweet-spot. SO I guess it depends on your own control issues and style. As a LP player, I have tried LP on fast carbon blades. seems like hinoki carbon worked best, hard to control on fast shot returns, But if you have short pips, double inverted and play a hitting game with counter's and fast blocks, as well as attack off the table, then carbon might work for you. * this also depends on your skill level as well.

Peace GIG

A Stiff carbon blade helps Achuma make nice BH OX LP punches and a cool FH Skulldrug finish. No doubt what works for them. NO ONE in the Achuma world of OX LP players use an ALL class blade, no one, period, zilch.

You can't reach a high level playing with a carbon blade and ox LP because it's a seriously restrictive setup. Nothing like what you can do with an all+ blade and inverted, apples and oranges. You could still win a world championship today if you are good enough with an ALL+ 5 ply and double inverted and that combo is still winning national titles around the world every day. Doubt you could even win a state title of a table tennis unknown state in an unknown country with LP OX and stiff Carbon blade. It's just too limiting.

I like composite blades prob ably because I am an offensive player from both sides. My shots penetrate more with composite blades and I like the high sense of consistency that I get with them. To me everything is incredibly predictable, at least the one I use, which has very soft feel and quite a bit more flex than some carbon blades (because it is not too thick). Still, Viscaria is pretty stiff compared to pure wood. I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner but even intermediate level players can get some use out of this blade. The combination of relative stiffness and softness is the thing I like best in a blade. Innerforce blades and the like are also nice. What you maybe don't want is something crazy fast like an Amultart or a Schlager Carbon or an Axelo, it' just too hard to have any kind of short game with those -- so you look great while you lose. I also generally don't like carbon alone because it ends up feeling too hard, like playing with glass.

I used to use wood only blades earlier and they were great for my blocking passive game that relied purely on touch. As I tried to develop a looping attacking style I felt that carbon composite blade like ALC/Tbs gave me more power to control ratio on active shots. I still think wood is better for blocks and smashes but you really need a bigger sweet spot in consistent looping. Also I dont like vibrations in loops. I like to concentrate on taking a consistent swing with power rather than searching for feeling but thats me. I am sure a certain mr Liqin feels differently....

As I just realised. I'm using a home made $15 in materials 4.75mm all+ 5 ply blade a $5 forehand rubber and a $10 backhand rubber and that is probably for me the best combo I've ever owned :o .Good enough to "almost make the nationals" :P

Rubbers are 729 fx general in 2.0mm and 802 in 1.5mm btw. Beasts of rubbers.

Pascal Troger found that type of setup good enough to win in Bundesliga II competition. He'd conservatively be rated above USATT 2500.
