First post, I've just jumped on the Ross Leidy bandwagon and am now on the waiting list for a blade! C-pen, Off-, Limba-Spruce-Kiri-Spruce-Limba, Handle-details to be finalized. Can't wait!

What would a combination: Anigre/Kiri-koto do? koto for forehand and anigre for backhand do? should I use medial plies between Koto and kiri and anigre and kiri?

thanks!

Ross has just finished my blade. This one is a slightly modified version of his Rapscallion blade (http://www.rossleidy.com/blades/models/ ... index.html), using spruce instead of mahogny as medials. It's also as far as I know the first penhold Rapscallion.

Theoretically the spruce should make it slightly softer, lighter and introduce a little more dwell time, while maintaining the same flex as the original design. We'll see how it works out in practice. It's the standard 6.2 mm thickness with a weight of 79g.

The handle is amboyna burl with end caps of purpleheart and bloodwood.

This beauty should be leaving Ross on Monday, as soon as I receive the blade it'll be put through some heavy testing and then I'll put up a review. Well, as soon as I can persuade myself to put rubbers on this work of art, that is.

Pics for your enjoyment:

Very nice pics, thanks for posting!!!

The signature adds a nice touch! Good to see Ross hasn't been sitting on on hands, but keeps coming up with new gems!

Sooo, I was supposed to write an in-depth review for this blade. Well, haven't gotten around to it yet, and now I'm off for a 3-week trip. But I'll make sure to do it when I get back.

My new Ross Leidy blade! It's the USB model with an awesome redwood burl handle.

Are you using that as a "V" grip? :)

This is how I hold it. It looks uncomfortable but It is probably the most comfortable grip i've ever used and provides great handle control for me!

That is a variation of a "V" grip. Which side do you hit a forhand with, the side by your first finger or your second finger? :)
