Adham Sharara: During the 2013 World Championships, we will have our traditional Annual General Meeting, however, this year is an election year. I am proud and honoured to announce that I will seek re-election as President for one last term.

Reaction: Oh joy :|

Good news : Sharara is not the only candidate anymore !
An interesting quote :
Quote:
The Italian manager explained further reasons pushing him to challenge Mr. Adham SHARARA, being in the office since 14 years. “A huge part of table tennis family, including myself of course, disagrees current ITTF strategy to centralize everything and reduce the autonomy of Continents further. This system generated serious problems even in terms of financial fair-play: we got the evidence of some serious infringements happened”.

Mr. BOSI straightforward stated: “There’s no transparency inside our International Federation nowadays. We would like ITTF, one of biggest International Sport Associations in the world with 217 affiliated countries, moving back to a great sport community, rather than a business district”.

Great! This is the same guy that got rid of Schoeler in the ETTU.

Well Stefano seems to be a fighter, so just having opposition is the first step, as when leaders are left alone, they tend to feel more powerful and start controlling more and listen less

So I wish him the best luck, My only concern is will he be too much Europe concerned and forget the rest of us
I also thought the website was quite good

The big problem for Bosi is that a large block of these voting associations' only involvement with the ITTF is collecting freebies. Bosi's theme of "moving back to a great sport community, rather than a business district" won't resonate with them since they're only in it for the free equipment.

Even if Bosi gets China's support, China's vote can be cancelled out by some puppet association like Vanuatu. It's ridiculous.

How many ITTF tournaments have come to Canada lately? Like zero? Seems like there's always one in Egypt though. Table tennis has been pretty much ignored on Sharara's own continent ever since he took over.

An article on Tabletennista about Bosi's candidacy.

I agree. China is just one single vote among 217. Absurd.
Well... technically China may have 3 votes, as Macau and Hong-Kong each have one. But still. China should get far more.
Breakdown by continent :
- Africa : 48
- Asia : 45
- Europe : 57
- Latin America : 39
- Northern America : 4
- Oceania : 24

The AGM will be held in Paris on May 15.

I think so too. Far better than the ITTF's. There's also a RSS feed, something the ITTF lacks (for non-techies : it's a simple way to syndicate your content - making it available to subscribers and other websites).

Thanks for the information lecridupongiste

I'd agree it's amazing the ITTF don't have an RSS feed... I've actually asked them on several occasions with no response.

Which website are you referring to that is good?

You're welcome.

Sorry if I was not clear enough : I was referring to the ETTU.org website (linked in my first post in this thread).

Your point! (I was being politely sarcastic).

Here's a pic of the Hong Kong Cup last year at one of my clubs:
