Do people think this would be good for OX pimples or is it too hard/stiff?

i bought the shiono def and i like it a lot . i played the JSH blade with Curl p1r before and i need to say that i can chop much better now . in this case better means i got more control and more backspin. on the FH i play tenergy 64 fx and its also nice ... its not as hard as the JSH and you can attack near the table and far away.
so overall its softer than a JSH ( but not really slower(FH)) and its faster then a BTY Defence IV.

if you guys have more questions let me know.

How stiff is it compared to the JSH? Is the Shiono a stiff blade but slightly softer than the JSH?

Do you know if the straight handle is good?

Got my straight handle shiono blade recently -- it is slower than the joo. Shiono has a good bit of vibration but does not feel flimsy at all. You don't get any of the 'tuning fork' kind of effect as you do with some defensive blades. It vibrates, but in a muted sort of fashion.

It's decently stiff, though nothing too extreme. Slower than the matsushita off and Matsu special. Most of the my chops were going short when first using the shiono. A bit faster than the hadraw shield.

Could be the honey mooning phase... shiono seems to be my new favorite! A tad more control than faster defensive blades like joo or the matsushita ones, yet packs enough wallop to attack when called for. It's certainly not in the class of the offensive-defensive blades. Those like the joo or other stiff and hard ones made for LP blocking. Actually fairly similar to the defplay in terms of speed for a number of shots.

The handle is a good size. I also have the donic waldner 89 champion blade -- they are nearly identical, although the shiono has less tapering going toward the handle. One point to note, the grip space seems a little small. I can't tell if this is because of the blade connecting lower on the handle, or the handle itself being shorter than usual. Either way, the end result is the same. I'd say it is the same length as the chen defender straight handle for grip space.

How does this blade compare to the defplay senso?

Shiono is slightly faster, slightly stiffer/less vibrations.

Any idea if Shiono Def needs sealing?

I've got two of them and haven't noticed any problems so far without sealing. A bit lighter than most other defensive blades also, plus with slightly smaller rubbers to glue on.

For one who wants shiono def but has doubts: great blade with great control. I've tried it with marder2 and neptune. Easy to loop, easy to chop. Have some doubts 'bout neptune...going to try 1mm p1r on wensday. That's all for now. :)

I think it is not a ST handle's issue but wings come down too far...
