Good evening!

Has anyone used the new Butterfly Diode V Blade and if so, can anyone give me some feedback on how it plays?

I'm particularly interested in a comparison between the diode V and the joo se hyuk blade.

I've been playing with it for 4 months now.
- It is a little bit slower than JSH, but not much.
- It has a little bit more flex than JSH, but not much.
- It's weight is a little bit less than JSH, but not much.
- Its throw is low, pretty much like JSH.
- It has the same prize than JSH.

- My problems using it are the same as with JSH (too much speed -> not enough control, too stiff -> not enough spin). If I manage to hit with perfect timing, the topspin is amazing... the drawback: "if" happens not often enough, so consistency is bad (for me, might improve if I had the time to drill more).

Overall, not much difference between them... I felt much better with Tibhar Stratus Powerdefense. Perhaps I'll return to it. But not after trying Stiga Defensive Pro, 'cause it is advertised as "developed in close collaboration with Masato Shiono". As his most dedicated follower I simply have to try it.

The Donic version: no, but I have tried the Soulspin Roots 7, supposedly the same blade with different handles.
- Very soft feeling
- Very light
- Blade thickness 6,2mm, thus stiff
- Thick inner veneer made of kiri which gives it a balsa-like catapult: slow on low impact, quite fast when hitting with force
- very delicate top veneers (fir, tends to fray when changing rubbers)
- Rather expensive
It seems that I prefer thinner blades with some flex. Best feeling so far I had with Donic Defplay (another Shiono favourite... ), but a little slow and rather low quality. A good compromise for me has been the Tibhar Powerdefense, but I got bored with it - very silly of me. Tonight I will have my first hits with the Stiga blade. Let's see how it compares to my Diode V. Did I mention that I do my share of EJ'ing?

Let us know on here how the stiga blade compares to the diode!

Roots 7 is not the same. Shiono uses 3 plies of spruce, the roots 7 uses kiri core and 1 outer spruce

How did you find the stiga defensive Pro?

Still have one, but don't like it that much. It takes some time getting used to (slow, stiff, low throw) and results have been less good than with my previous blades (Powerdefense, Diode V and currently Stiga Allround).

It is resting - skinned and resealed - in my cupboard. Still indecisive if I should give it away.
