:cash: :cash: :cash: The most lucrative table tennis event of the year 2019. T2 is the supreme attraction for all the pro-players, perhaps even stronger desirement than Olympics oncoming next year., I suspect. Money rule the World, is it not ?

Domestic government will impose Income Taxation 15% on the player's revenue. So, mild Malaysian taxation is far relaxed as against the ripping Japanese tax of 21%. :* :* :*

Be happy.

Hmm!! Tix are quite cheap - VIP tix are only RM99 (about USD23). I'd have to fly or take a bus down there, though, and stay in a hotel. It is just across the causeway from Singapore, that's another attraction.

Igor posted about prize money. There is that, but I suspect there's more than that - pros, even the journeymen (like Bernadette Szocs - she's actually ranked 16th!) need to make a living, so I suspect there's some sizable appearance fees as well. Looks like Igor misread the tax info - the (maximum) tax rate is actually 28%. Unless the players are "Professional Entertainers"... they well might be..

Quote:
COMMENTARY ON ARTICLE 17
CONCERNING THE TAXATION OF ENTERTAINERS AND SPORTSPERSONS.

Paragraph 1
1. Paragraph 1 provides that entertainers and sportspersons who are residents
of a Contracting State may be taxed in the other Contracting State in which their
personal activities as such are performed, whether these are of a business, sporting or
employment nature.

5. Whilst no precise definition is given of the term “sportspersons” it is not
restricted to participants in traditional athletic events (e.g. runners, jumpers,
swimmers). It also covers, for example, golfers, jockeys, footballers, cricketers and
tennis players, as well as racing drivers.

6. The Article 17 also applies to income from other activities which are usually
regarded as of an entertainment character, such as those deriving from billiards and
snooker, chess and bridge tournaments
Thus, according to the International Convention Article 17, an extra deduction from Timo Boll's money revenue (if any) would be imposed by Malaysian Financial Executives on behalf of his faterland of Germany.
So good for Germany, so vexing for Timo. ;( ;( ;(

Good grief.. where did this guy come from? (Taiwan... ) Apparently earlier he'd wiped Ma Long off the table in similar manner.

Lin is a great player and still developing at such a young age. He has beaten Harimoto, but I don't think he has beaten Xu Xin yet. Lin is much calmer than Harimoto.

I have been watching Lin the last tournaments and this year he has improved his reults a lot. He has such great technique! Look how easy it seems when he is playing, no tension, just fluid. Imagine if he was as strong in the body as the chineese players... I read somewhere thet he got a coach (or a trainer) first when he was 12 years old. Can’t imagine he was not very good already then, but he must have very good natural talent for this sport.
