Well, I have another bunch of rubbers to share with the lovely community at OOAK Australia. This time Spinlord Sandwind in 1.5 mm . 2 reds, 2 blacks. 3 of them little used , 1 is still fresh in the packet - uncut .

Should anyone want to test this interesting rubber, please leave a comment here stating your country and if you want regular or registered mail and then I will pm you for details .

Cheers,

Char Def

yes, of course . I will tell you the exact cost but from memory I think that regular mail for Australia is 3.40 € + padded envelope = 4 €.

On the other hand, registered mail - safer for you and the parcel always arrives all right - 7.20€ + padded envelope = 8 € .

I will pm you with my details and confirming the cost next Monday - well, in my Monday morning time  - I think we have an 8 hour time difference

While waiting for the rubber to arrive, I need to find some info on how to play with it. :)
Would this wonderful post by Kees be relevant to the Sandwind? https://ooakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=18109
Any other instructional posts or videos on playing with half-antis? Thanks!

I am thinking ....mmm,....I still have the Thibar Blade available ,....The Premium Contact ( off - ),it is very very little splintered on the fh side but it is a minor, minor flaw . :)

Played with the Sandwind for the first time on Friday - glued a red sheet on my spare Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro Black Edition blade and used it on the BH side.

Having never played with an anti rubber before, I was able to use the Sandwind in more or less the same way I normally use SP - for returning serves, pushing and hitting. Despite the similarities, I found it significantly harder to hit through backspin with the Sandwind than with my SP of choice (although the blade may matter as well).
The drawback of the playing style similarity was that I didn't notice any deception from the Sandwind, whatsoever. I was kinda expecting that a passive block would produce a "reversed" spin return but it didn't seem anything like that - my blocks were very much like the ones that a regular inverted rubber would produce. In fact, perhaps for my opponents it was even easier to play against the Sandwind than my normal SP...

I'm probably missing some techniques for playing with an anti. Any advice is appreciated!

Hello! in the link I posted a few days ago ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHg5qjRQc6M ) they explain SW is halfanti so it is not an anti rubber as such . You can do many things like inverted rubbers, I just noticed that if the block is active the ball has a nasty trajectory . You get great control with SW, can add spin to the ball( not too much but enough to deceive the opponent) and it is very safe for service return .

In my opinion , SW has not been created for a disruptive game but the idea is to have a hybrid rubber to get the best of both worlds .The deception lies in the way you use the rubber, spin or no spin . I did get some extra points with this strategy .
