My rubber tore at the top edge because of hitting the table is there anything I can do that would restore it. Will the rubber be dead or inconsistent because of it? I am a bit tensed because this was my first assemble racquet and its not even been a month since I made it. Image

I know, damaging rubber is frustrating, especially if it's new. However, those tears on the edges don't really affect the playing characteristics.

I used to worry about this kind of stuff, too, but now my rubber looks like this, and I don't care. :)

It's all in your mind. I wish my blades and rubbers looked as great as yours.

Unless you hit the ball with the damaged parts...

There ARE people who will tell you your racket is illegal because chunks have come off the edges. I've even heard of people carrying around black and red marker pens to hide the damage. It never used to be this way.

I once had someone complain about to amount of pips that were missing during a tournement, since it was about 8 pips in the center. Fair complaint perhaps but it was only made because I was winning. Karma was on my side that day so I borrowed another clubmembers combination bat and proceeded to dominate the rest of the game... you'll never me complain about that stuff. But on the edges? That's just sad...

Keeping secrets never works out.

Here's the truth that's gonna be hard to swallow.
It's an inconvenient truth, sorry.

Truth hurts, doesn't it, my friend?
Probably because you don't like hearing the truth.

You're scared of the truth? Just get relaxed.
You just have to face reality.
One must have the courage to face reality.

Face the facts.
We gotta face the facts.

That is bitterly true, I know.
Again, bitter truth is better than sweet lies, you know.

The truth is, igorponger, that this is the responsibility of the ITTF, not the players or the members here. So if you want to report it, report it to the ITTF, don't keep posting the same stuff here.

this

im not afraid of any truth, i dont even use any of these rubbers you so opposed nor had i ever laid hands on a booster

i just find it annoying you kept on parroting this a dozen times

i also find that its really silly that you expect people to not use rubbers approved by ITTF themselves in the LARC

the truth is, we'll keep using "illegal" equipment until the ITTF deems them officially illegal

COMPOSITE TOPSHEETS. PRO & CONTRA.

A while ago, some rubber items were suspended from the ITTF LARC for having abnormal composition of the topsheet. Subsequently, a group of Asian manufacturers came up with a petition saying that ITTF should take up revision of the current T4 document as follows

Quote:
5.3. Sandwich rubber

5.3.1 Composite Topsheet
A thin extra layer of rubber material is permitted on the smooth side of topsheet with pimples inward only for the purpose of increasing frictional capacity of the topsheet. The layer may be no more than 0.12 mm thick, and shall not transfer stickiness to the ball in play.
Those new provisions to T4 have to be voted at next AGM 2020. Till then, those abnormal topsheets are deemed an illegal product and will be treated accordingly.

Japan and Europa are expected to come out as the main opposition to the proposed amendments, given the fact that a good many players of China National teams now using those fancy topsheets.

to the OP, who may be bemused by all the BS in the thread...
put a bit of glue on your finger, gently lift the flap of rubber, put the glue on the sponge, push down on the rubber, wipe off the excess glue. Wait for it to dry, put edge tape on your racket. Don't ever think of it again.
