I asked the question of TeesSport in England as I was looking for advice on a sanitiser that would kill COVID without damaging the table surface. Eventually they advised that we use the Butterfly Table Cleaner. They said it met the requirements but didn't actually mention if it would kill COVID. Given they are one of the biggest distrubtors of Butterfly in Europe I wasn't surprised. I was hoping more for advice that would involved something more widely available like Detol wipes though I shouldn't be surprised. I have some Detol wipes which I will use to clean my own table and balls and report back.

Isopropyl Alcohol apparently destroys the virus very quickly. I would have no worry about using on the handle or my hands, and it evaporates so quickly that it may be fine with the table and ball. But I would seek more informed advice.

You have to RUB the alcohol until dry over the surfaces and it can take anything from 30 seconds to 1 minute to be effective!!!

Also, I have read somewhere that Alcohol and Acetone and most solvents can soak easily through the rubber topsheet which is porous ( despite it looking not very porous) ... not sure exactly what level of absorption or chemical reactions take place, I would prefer to use Water , just the plain old H2O to clean the rubbers.

Just an Update



Our Club has not yet opened-up, so I haven't got a chance to try Rubbing Alcohol, to wipe the tables...
