A few people here were very interested in these, so I've checked out the sheets and measured sponge hardness and weight, see details below:

Sponge Hardness/colour
LKT Rapid Sound 36, light yellow
LKT Rapid Power 40, cream
LKT Rapid Soft 34, yellow
LKT Rapid Speed 41, cream

I've added these to my sponge hardness table, and to get an idea what these values really mean, you should check out the table and compare to other rubbers/sponges that you know.

Weights: uncut sheet 2.2mm, size, weight per mm2
LKT Rapid Sound :52g, 167x166mm, 0.00188
LKT Rapid Power: 64g, 164x166mm, 0.00235
LKT Rapid Soft: 53g, 166x165mm, 0.00194
LKT Rapid Speed: 63g, 166x165mm, 0.00230

Haggisv obviouslt JKC likes it, but do you think there is anything special or revolutionary about these rubbers? Or is it just another inverted series really. Any comparison to XT and XP?

Well I haven't tried tried them yet, so I can't comment till I have. The XT was one of my favourites rubbers, so if these are faster versions of this, I'll probably be quite impressed... I don't expect a great deal of speed glue feel, but some would be very nice.

I would say that Soft and Sound are less tacky and faster versions of XT and XP (without glue). They can be played unglued, nothing less, nothing more. The both of them have higher throw, Sound is bit faster than Soft and it really makes strange corking sound on some blades.
I've never tried Power, because I think it would be too fast for me.
In last 4 years I used to play with (slightly glued) Tackifire C, Kokutaku 868P and Hurricane2, now I'm satisfied with unglued Speed. It is spinny rubber with low throw and decent speed on my def+ blade, that's enough for me. And yes, it doesn't cost 50$

I wouldn't say there is anything magical or revolutionary in terms of speed. - The main thing people consider when they talk about 'speed glue effect'. The thing I like about the 'Sound' is that although it isn't actually that fast, the ball sinks into the rubber like a 'Speed Glued' rubber meaning you can play similar shots like the 'off the bounce loop'. Spin on serves and low speed spin and control is improved too. Looping from mid distance is both quick and controlled on a fast blade and the control is there for chopping too if you want to.

Power was faster and probably more suited to someone who blocks and drives more than I do.

Both rubbers looked very good quality out of the pack - very clean and neat around the edges - A sign that Chinese quality control is getting better all the time.

but Sound is faster than Pro XT, right?

Is Sound faster or slower than XP Gold Dragon? Gold Dragon is pretty hard, so maybe Power/Speed would be the fairer comparison. How does Rapid Power/Speed compare to Gold Dragon or Silver Dragon?

It is faster than the XT I tried a when it first came out, I think someone said the sponge may have got a little harder since then so I don't know about the lastest version.

I haven't tried any of the other rubbers you mention.

Cole states on his site that the most recent shipments of LKT Pro XP and XT have slightly firmer sponge than what they have had on them traditionally. So the newer versions of XP and XT are slightly different from the older ones. At this point in time they are very likely equivalent to LKT Rapid Soft and perhaps Sound.

The fact that LKT has gone through the trouble of getting 4 new sheets ITTF approved, tends to tell me the topsheets are all different. Otherwise they could have just got one new topsheet approved, put different sponges under each one, and call them different names, like many other manufacturers do... This would have saved them a lot money... so I would be inclined to believe the topsheets are significantly different...

LOL! I meant they should be different, otherwise they wasted a lot of $$ on ITTF approval fees.

I can see the different pip structure in one of them... the pips seem quite a bit bigger... Didn't have a close look at the orientation and lenght... hard to see without cutting a sheet...

I think I'll stick with the Torrent, unless one of them is supposed to be a replacement for the Torrent. That one has larger pips beneath the surface also.
