The olive oil should be extra virgin first cold press. Anything else is an imposter and tastes terrible. :P Serious though... Cutting it with two parts lemon juice is also a killer rubber maintainer. Wipe/rub on and wipe off - a winner that works.

I have also tried this on a salad, it makes for a good dressing! :D

I tried Olive Oil last night on a Globe 999, the results were impressive.

I'll try it on your old juic 999 EU Sheepcoate... that should revive the topsheet a little. Then I'll falco it and see how it goes....

You think Olive Oil in the spray can would be just as good?

Hi all (my first post here),

This is all very interesting, can anyone tell me what you have found that restores the rubber and more importantly the tacky(ness) back to as near to original as possible and can it do it to an old rubber?

Your thoughts on silicon oil/spray, anybody tried it?

ANYTHING with silicone will not work unless you want to make a sheet of antispin rubber. Slick, Slickity, Slick!

On the contrary, someone in another forum posted silicone as his premium cleaner/restorer. Did you try out silicone already?

As for my part, I haven't tried this silicone oil...I haven't found a source and an old rubber yet.

I'll see if I can find some silicome spray and will try it.

I forgot to take my rubber out of the clamp with the plastic on... I must remember to take it out to see how it's turned out... but i have a feeling the the oil followed by the plastic is definitely a way that works well....

I have tried a silicone lubricant. On the can it said 100% silicone and came in an aerosol spray can like wd-40. I didnt have very good luck with it. If what is being mentioned above is a combination of silicone and other ingredients I would be interested in trying it myself for comparison purposes. Any one with a brand name or better yet a link please post.

Since the experiment was done on a sprungfeder (chinese rubber).
Will it work just as well on any other rubber such as bryce, sriver, mendo and F1?
These euro/jap rubebrs are not as tacky to begin with

Good question... can't be sure till I try. The sprunfeder is far from typical Chinese rubbers of course, and only very slightly tacky.

I removed the plastic sheet, but it did not stick to the rubber. The rubber certainly did feel very grippy though... I'm uncertain if the plastic made it any better... it certainly works for more tacky rubber...

If I can find a non-tacky rubber I'll do the same experiment again... I'll have a look...

I used Olive oil on Yasaka V-stage and it did ok to help clean the rubber surface and to make it a touch more grippy. The results were not as good compared with other rubbers I've tried and didnt last as long, but I really didnt expect it as I know that the v-stage is a 100% natural rubber and way, way past its prime. The v-stage also seems to have a very tight cure, which would require many oil applications for a good penetration effect. I would recommend trying an older sheet of euro/jap rubber, even though I dont think the oil would worsen the condition of that type of rubber, as there is no original tack to ruin, its still better to try it on an older sheet to rejuvenate before using it to maintain a new sheet.
