is this blade any good?

saw one at the shop. finishing kind of not as smooth as hurricane king but price slightly more. has six nails (something like it, small round metal looking things planted) around the edges. hollow handle like some donic (the middle section has wood) not hollow as in stiga wrb.

said to be better than hurricane king though.

silver? anyone?

Never heard of it... who said it's better than the hurricane king?

I'm not saying it's isn't, but as soon as someone claims that it's 'better' than something else, I get suspicious... :P

The store owner. He mentioned that there's a test done with some players using various blades and they said this blade is better. It's in Chinese TT Word magazine.

I remembered seeing this blade had an article in the magazine but at the time I wasn't too interested and I couldn't read it anyway.

I heard SWORD used to be the sponsor for the Hong Kong National Team...

Well.....
Guess who has itchy hands... Thick wallet... And can't pass out on Special Edition...

Three guesses guys....

p.s. photos of the blade coming up soon...

Sorry.... :?: ...did you say you were not an EJ in the rank thread Rok?

But seriously, it'd have to be damn good to be better than HK. And I'd ask, better at what?

Aaaawwwwww...... C'mon now... Both of you think it's me? See answer below the following photos...

Here's some measurements:
Weight: 89.70g
Dimension: 158x152mm
Thickness: 6mm
Handle: 100mm

Bouncing with bare blade compared to Hurricane King:
Softer, didn't bounce as high or faster (slightly lower bounce & slower), gives muffled (more bass) thock-thock compared to HK's thack-thack/theck-theck sound (more treble).

If you think it's me.... TEEEETTTT!!! WRONG!

There's a reason I didn't think I deserve the EJ related title... I have itchy hands but don't have thick wallet...

It's PETER's!!! He just couldn't resist it when I told him I came across this blade in town...

But I got to try it before I send it off to Peter. Now, he's going to pray very hard and hope I don't make this blade my own and left him drooling with just the photos like he did with the Acoustic I had him bought for me...

At least I'm kind enough to show the photos of it. With the Acoustic, I didn't get to see any of it at all, it just disappeared into Peter's closet...

 Is that why there is a stoush between you and Peter for a bit recently  Seriously, I think it is either your damn good photography or that Sword blade looks really delicious. Judging from picture alone, I cannot see why it can't be better than HK. But then, looks can be very deceptive :P We await with great anticipation for your in depth review. That probably means Peter will have to wait a few months before he gets his hand on this one

Cheers.

Wow nice picture Rok :D
You say it's slower than H-king?
It's well made, finishing is not as good as H-king though.
When do you want to send it to me?

@Fattchoi, naaaaahhhh.... Peter is a decent guy... Aside from anything to do with acoustic/violin that is... So I kind of remind him every now and then the bad thing he did to me... But it's not working though cause he doesn't feel bad at all about it...

@Haggis, yeah... Following the suggestion on the other thread about holes, I made 6 holes on the blade just for Peter. And because I have class, instead of just leaving the blade with holes I filled them with pins instead. That way they look like they're made that way. I'm sure Peter won't be any wiser... Hohoho.... I made 6 holes for two reasons. One, one time I bought stuff for him and the cost ended up to be 666.000 and second reason (which is more fitting) is the stunt he pulled with the acoustic which is evil, thus the 666...

@Peter, looks like I'll be sending the blade to you Thursday morning. Have tourney tonight so won't be able to hit with it. Hopefully the tourney is done tonight, less it will be continued on Wednesday, in which case I'll send the blade Saturday morning.

Rok that blade is gorgeous!!!! Great pics too.

I could be convinced its better than HK, but you'd have to send it to me first to prove it!!

Oh and I'll have plenty of time to be convinced as I can't try it for a year. But that's ok, I'm sure just looking at that blade will make me get better quick. :D Being the good friend you are, I'm sure you'd do anything to make my convalecense more pleasant for me, wouldn't you? 8)
