I have always wondered which players are the favorites of each players using antis or pimples.

So, who is your favorite player? Non-anti or non-pimple players are okay too.

Mt favorites used to be the top choppers - Filus, Wang, Gionis. Their ability to chop the topspin drives of top players, over and over again, is phenomenal. However, recently my fave is Ayhika Mukherjee. Her style with FLanti and pips out (so she qualifies twice for your list!) is so simple and effective, it is a joy to watch.

I've been watching some of her videos and she's really effective. Use medium pips on the FH and gorilla anti on the BH. Two questions come to mind:
1- How easy is it to attack from FH with Dr. Neubauer KO?
2- I get the impression that Dr. Neubauer Gorilla is the anti most used by professionals or semis, which makes me think because it is a fairly old rubber...

He was the man when I grew up in Germany and the reason I was a chopper as a junior. I always loved his intensity and fighting spirit. Germans are loyal so he is still my favorite player!
If I had to pick a current player it would be Carlos Mühlbach who plays 2. Bundesliga in Germany.

If we are considering past, retired players, it would be Johnny Huang. Best shake hands pips put attacker I ever saw. So smooth.

Andrzej Grubba - Johnny Huang

It is comical to think that I have created this post and completely forgot to list my favorite player(s).

I actually have one, Luka Mladenovic, the best antispin player in the world. His playing style is my favorite and trying to replicate some of his style elements. He is a great inspiration for me and my main motivation to keep playing table tennis. Changing to antispin has brought diversity into table tennis for me. He is the only player I watch the matches of.

I can never choose just one. It’s like asking me what my favorite song is…

John Hilton is who started me on the crazy road of the “combination bat” so he is number one.

But after returning to play table tennis after 15 years of soccer and all of the videos we never had in the past…

My list is thus…

Ruwen Filus - No one can twiddle like he does and everyone is scared of having to play him. His forehand can be deadly and he is the best lobber in the world.

He Zhujia - She probably found a racket with long pips on one side when she showed up for training one day. She has beaten most of the top three women at one time or another.

Hitomi Sato - She is probably the reason for Ding Ning retiring after she beat her twice. Recently she has changed equipment and become a little more offensive. The closest female
player to Filus.

Manika Batra - Another amazing twiddler. If not for some sloppy forehand play the Indian women’s team would have beaten China 3-0. Still she has had some great wins lately. I have seen her drive forehands with the OX long pips side of her racket that I had to rewind the video to believe it happened.

Lastly would be Han Ying. Best women’s chopper in the world. I understand she is injured. I hope
she recovers soon.

Interesting that you are playing with an anti despite your favorite players are pimplers. It is okay thought, I just realized as an interesting fact. Each player is unique in a way, that is for sure.

I go back and forth way too much. It’s hard to keep up. At the moment I am actually playing with Dornenglanz. I like to be more attack minded with long pips but
frictionless anti is so good for slowing things down. I just can’t decide.

I see both OX long pips and frictionless anti as mostly the same except for speed. There really isn’t much of an adjustment for me.

Maybe some day I’ll figure it out. The most important thing is how I am physically. If I’m good I like playing with pips. If my body isn’t happy I think anti is better. Twiddling might be one of my better skills as well as my inverted backhand.

I can understand. I have once had a feeling of going back to the double-inverted setup. I actually did, for a few days. But I did not like that spin-sensitivity I have received back, so immediately reverted back to the anti and since then I am stuck with it, but stuck happily. It was far the best decision for me to do so.

My absolute favo is Manika Batra because her playing style.
It kinda how I want to play with my pimples. How she can slow down those very fast balls with the very fast d.tecs is amazing .....
I had to go to a slower pimple (Hellfire X).

The very top are better than her, but she can give them a fight for the money. I always try and watch her matches live.
