RTTE, If you are used to attack with Gergeley, then it is highly probable that you will not like the feel of Tachi. This is my personal opinion.

I had a set and a half after a few hitups with it GR and I actually really liked the feel of it. And I loved the massive reversal I could generate with the Dtecs he had on it. The FH power wasn't quite as powerful as the Gergely of course, but it wasn't totally gutless for its weight either. I thought it was faster than the Cayman and less clunky. As I said I need another hit with it to confirm my thoughts on it.

Did you try the Pogo on it?

Old Grass D-Techs gives a lot of trouble to the opponents as well as to the user on almost all blades. It generates a considerable amount of spin reversal. I found that experienced players adjust their game according to the pimple rubber they are facing.

Sounds like some of you guys should consider the new Tachi +

From speed bh=4 & fh=8+, to bh=7+ & fh=9 (if I'm reading the german correctly).

I personally still love the Tachi. It's easy to return to after many months not playing. I have ordered a sheet of Hexer + though. Might even consider the HD (big Hexer series fan).

Cheers.

According to Archim (when I tried to re-order a Tachi) there is a new improved blade for playing with D-TECS and he wouldnt 'let' me order a Tachi! .......... It's called Mephisto 7001!

I have posted a short video of training with it on D-TECS thread.

Is this the new D.Tecs he is referring to?

It seems like a very good blade.
How is it different from Dr Neubauer Special? In terms of speed and control?

Much faster on forehand side, more bite from pips on backhand. Cannot play with my old Neubs now. Tried others as wekk. Have two Tachi's and that is that.

However, on Special, the backhand side is the one with extra piles of wood while it is otherwise for Tachi. What do the extra wood gives you? More speed?

I expect it depends on which wood is used. Some blades have half a dozen different types of wood.

imo, the Tachi is a bad choice for off the table chopping. The back hand is too dead/slow, you will have to put a lot of effort into your chopping stroke.
