Today I played a league match against a guy who played the old TSP Curl P1 (without r).

In the LARC-app on my mobile, this rubber isn't mentioned. Does this mean that it is actually still allowed? The rubbers that are NOT allowed are mentioned, but in red letters.

Anybody?

I'd guess that it can't possibly be legal, unless TSP is bringing out a new version.

Wonder how old and fossilized a sheet of P1 original would have to be. The old P1 from 20 years ago had longer pips and illegal aspect ratio (too long and skinny) for sure.

When you bounced a ball up and down on a racket with TSP P1, for say a dozen times the ball would just pick up a random spin and then with each successive bounce the spin would keep amplifying the first slight spin until the ball was spinning quite fast. All just from repeating the upward bounce. I think that meant the pips were more flexible as well as longer than now. If you try that with new P1R any random spin does not continue it goes back to almost dead immediately.

The old P1 was weird but actually very hard to play with because it was difficult to control. I could never use that old one even as strange as it was, even though I have played with TSP P1R a lot.

I have a sheet of p1 that's still in good condition, one time I wanted to demonstrate to someone how strange this rubber was but surprisingly it hardly produced any strange effects with a 40mm ball. Dug up a 38mm ball and the p1 was as strange as ever. Not legal to play with for sure but the missing r on the sheet is easily missed on inspection.

As I said the r is easily missed, the r is at the right of the tsp logo.
