Hi,im a chopper that has used vkm blade with fl2 .5, curl p1r at .1 and am O.K at controlling it.
I always chop with my backhand and usually never attack with it, rely on creating openings with chops to kill the ball with my forehand as quickly as possible.
I hope with d.tecs it will be easier to mess up my opponents and forced weak balls to put away.
I am wondering if any choppers have experience on which sponge thickness is best for controlled purely mid/close distance chopping, was thinking 0.5 - .9 but it would be nice to get some of your guys' advice on it. Thank You!

D.TecS at 0.5 will be significantly faster than Curl P1R at 1.0.

Chopping with D.TecS is great against topspin but it’s not that great at pushing.

Spin sensitivity can’t be compared. I can’t use P1R without quite a lot changes to my technique.

At "mid/close distance" you might want to stick with OX. There's a guy at my club who plays with it in OX and his defense is great. It allows him to both drop balls short if he's close to the table blocking, or back up to mid distance and get a lot of spin on chops with good control.

Of course can it be compared: P1R is more sensitive to spin

I used both D'Tecs (1,2) and P1R (1,0) on VKM, both are great when chopping, both are demanding when pushing - different feel and touch, but comparable. Since the P-Ball I prefer the P1R, it vastly easier to counter-drive and block (inverted style) with it than with D'Tecs; this option is very useful if your opponent won't attack.

P1R is sensitive to spin - D.TecS not that much. I only ever have care about spin that much with D.TecS when I play against people who have got a ranking of 2000+ here in Sweden (typically 3rd tier in our league system). I argue that the two rubbers are very different when receiving.

P1R is for sure easier to drive with but usually results in quite harmless balls whereas if you hit hard with D.TecS will earn points up to a quite high level.

P1R is a dream to chop with but you need to have some very good footwork to back that up.

Just my 0.02$ as an amateur.
