The ITTF classifies this new rubber as 'out', indicating that it's a short/medium pimple, but the description implies it's a long pimple:

VEGA LPO is the first long pimpled rubber in the VEGA series. The new pimple geometry provides excellent grip. This rubber is targeted for defensive counter attack. The new rubber compound provides a high degree of control in order to survive against fast topspin. Enjoy the new generation of long pimple rubbers of XIOM.

I checked on the Xiom site, and it's only available with a 1.0mm sponge. :o

Has anyone seen or tried this, or can confirm if it's indeed a long pimple?

I was wondering when we were going to get a description...it's been on the LARC for a while. I spoke to the XIom dealer here in the US and they weren't sure themselves.

TT11 already has this for sale! And they describe it as a LP.

And Tabletennisstore.us has it as well, and they have a different description than the manufacturer:

Xiom Vega LPO - Long Pip Table Tennis Rubber, high spin reversal, control and disruption.
VEGA LPO is the first long pimpled rubber in the VEGA series . Its unique rubber sponge compound ensures both a high degree of control and disruption. XIOM LPO long pips are soft and flexible and are designed to touch the ball. Combined with a medium hard sponge, Vega LPO produces a winning combination of control and spin reversal. Designed for close to the table play.

Feel the new generation from XIOM long pimpled rubber.

Both description sound like they come from a manufacturer  . Someone will have to try it to see if it's true.

It's not the first time the ITTF has made a mistake on the LARC, but it may be that the pimples are not quite short enough to make the 'long' category.

Probably just a typo. There is also 79-037: Vega SPO.

I actually tried the rubber last night for 3 hours and it does indeed play a lot like an SP in many ways. Punching and driving with Vega LPO is very easy and feels very similar to an SP rubber.

Compared to D.TecS it's a bit slow so the attacks are not that dangerous. Chopping is excellent but you really need to have fairly good technique just like with P1R. Half arsed efforts will be punished.

Passive strokes close to the table will fly looooong.

Sorry for necromancing this old thread.
