I've been using Dawei 388D-1 0.8mm sponge for about 3 months now. And I don't know how to use it correctly. I've tried to use it to block the smashing hits or very spin hits, but it really hard to control. Sometimes, the ball goes into the table, with very spin reversed. But usually, the ball goes outside.
I'm wondering if this rubber is not suitable for blocking. I'm I right? Could you tell me how to use it correctly?
Thank you very much for your help. :)

I think the member Def-attack can help you here. He played it for quite a while. I suggest you contact him.

My personal opinion and experience is that this rubber in 0.8mm (I was using 0.7 which won't differ much) is way better for chopping off the table rather than blocking.. Aggressive pushes and attacks are awesome though..

If you, Sir, want to chop block with it, you might want the rubber in OX.. And I think it's best to use the rubber with an active stroke..

Hope this helps!

I personally found this rubber one of the best for blocking loops/drives. The easiest way to do that was with open bat and inverted-like blocks with a bit of forward motion. Chop blocks seemed ok too. But if you are having problems only with hits/smashes then I think that it would be very hard to block those shots with any rubber..

Actually not. I have used Dawei 388D, not D-1. "D" has smooth pips, "D-1" has rough. "D"is for defence away from the table "D-1" is more for blocking and all round game I think

You could have a look at Paralympic champion in class 3 Feng Panfeng, he uses it on backhand.

Thank you all for your replies, you've helped me so much. :)
I've been using that pimples for about 3 months, and I've found that it's not good at blocking, although chopping away from the table is really good, the ball is spin and low, close to net. :)
But I think it's time for changing, I'm a close-to-table player, so I can't use this type of rubber, I've been thinking about using C8 (Double Happiness) or Chaos (Andro). If you have any tips in playing these two pimples, please let me know.
Again, thank you very much for your help. :)

Well actually yes :D
I learned the difference in these rubbers-I thought it was similar to 729 where the "-1" designates how far the pips are separated and not how the tops of them are. Learn something on this board everyday.

To the OP-what kind of blade are you using? This does affect how LP play.

You don't happen to live in Belgium, huyducphamvn, because I'm helping someone with the same description at the moment?

For a close-to-the-table game I suggest using the Dtecs or the tamer Desperado from Neubauer.

I'm living in Vietnam, and I'm just a 19-year-old student. Also, I've just started playing table tennis for more than a year, when I began to study in University. :)
I'll try to find the rubbers you've suggested, thank you very much for your advice. :)
